Supporting multilingual learners in K‐12 STEM classrooms through formative assessments: A qualitative descriptive approach

open access: yesNatural Sciences Education, Volume 55, Issue 1, June 2026.
Abstract The growing number of multilingual learners (MLs) in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) classrooms in the United States has compelled teachers to innovate their instructional and assessment practices to better meet the diverse and evolving needs of students. By centering teachers’ own interpretations and reflections, this

Unlocking Energy Potential: Exploiting Anionic Redox Activity in Na‐Based Layered Oxides

open access: yesSmall, Volume 22, Issue 33, 12 June 2026.
Anionic redox in Na‐based layered oxide cathodes unlocks additional capacity beyond conventional transition‐metal redox limits, enabling high‐energy sodium‐ion batteries. This review elucidates coupled cationicanionic redox mechanisms across P2‐, O3‐, and related structural phases, while critically addressing key challenges such as voltage hysteresis ...

Outcomes of laser endoureterotomy using diode and holmium lasers in benign ureteral stricture management: a retrospective cohort study

open access: yesAfrican Journal of Urology
Background Our experience of endoureterotomy with diode (150 & 200 Watt) and holmium lasers. Methods A retrospective study involving 60 patients (39 male and 21 female) treated for benign ureteric strictures used either diode laser (29 patients) or ...

Red‐listed species under threat: Unexpectedly high deadwood thresholds for their presence in managed boreal forests

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 63, Issue 6, June 2026.
We show that deadwood volume is a reliable, taxon‐specific indicator of the presence of red‐listed bryophytes and fungi but not lichens. By explicitly focusing on threatened species and deriving statistically defined thresholds from managed boreal forests, our study provides empirical benchmarks that go beyond commonly used biodiversity indicators. The

Ocular surface disease in atopic dermatitis

open access: yesActa Ophthalmologica, Volume 104, Issue S291, Page S4-S28, June 2026.
ENGLISH SUMMARY Atopic keratoconjunctivitis (AKC) is a severe ocular surface disease (OSD) that significantly affects patients' quality of life and can lead to blindness. AKC is associated with atopic dermatitis (AD), a common chronic inflammatory skin disease affecting both children and adults.

Sphingosine‐1‐Phosphate Promotes FOS Activation in Osteosarcoma Under Tumor Acidosis

open access: yesActa Physiologica, Volume 242, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Aim The tumor microenvironment in solid tumors is characterized by extracellular acidosis, which promotes cancer aggressiveness. In osteosarcoma, the most common primary bone cancer, a highly acidic tumor microenvironment is associated with metastasis and poor prognosis, partly due to metabolic rewiring, including changes in lipid pathways ...

Safety and Feasibility of Antegrade Cholangiopancreatoscopy‐Guided Laser Dissection and Ablation for Pancreaticobiliary Jejunal Anastomotic Stricture (With Video)

open access: yesDigestive Endoscopy, Volume 38, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Hepaticojejunostomy anastomotic stricture (HJS) and pancreaticojejunostomy anastomotic stricture (PJS) are late adverse events that can occur after pancreaticoduodenectomy. Although endoscopic and percutaneous interventions are available, recurrence remains common because of residual fibrotic tissue.

Multi‐Center, Real‐World Registry Study of the UroLift Prostatic Urethral Lift (PUL) for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) in Japan

open access: yesInternational Journal of Urology, Volume 33, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Objectives The prostatic urethral lift (PUL) for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) has been shown to deliver rapid, durable symptom relief with low morbidity. Most studies have been performed in Western populations. The objective was to understand how PUL performs in the real world in Japan among a broad patient population.

A multi‐centre retrospective review of the bronchoscopic management of upper tracheal stenosis: an Australian perspective

open access: yesInternal Medicine Journal, Volume 56, Issue 6, Page 1019-1025, June 2026.
Abstract Background Upper tracheal stenosis (UTS) is a rare process with multiple causes and variable approaches to treatment. Australian data on management patterns are lacking and patient resources reflecting local practices are scarce. Aims To describe the management strategies of UTS over 12 years among three teaching hospitals in New South Wales ...
