Trauma and affect in a Holocaust survivor's story: Rosita Fanto's novel Rozalia Alone

open access: yesOrbis Litterarum, EarlyView.
Abstract My article endeavors to redress the neglect of Rosita Fanto's Rozalia Alone (2010), which deals with a page of history that is less known worldwide, the Holocaust in Romania. Using a trauma studies perspective that mixes with affect theory, the article demonstrates that Rozalia Alone covers in a nutshell the whole magnitude of the late 1930s ...

Lensfree computational microscopy tools for cell and tissue imaging at the point-of-care and in low-resource settings. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The recent revolution in digital technologies and information processing methods present important opportunities to transform the way optical imaging is performed, particularly toward improving the throughput of microscopes while at the same time ...

Use of extended and prepared reference objects in experimental Fourier transform X-ray holography

open access: yes, 2004
The use of one or more gold nanoballs as reference objects for Fourier Transform holography (FTH) is analysed using experimental soft X-ray diffraction from objects consisting of separated clusters of these balls.

Spectrally Tunable 2D Material‐Based Infrared Photodetectors for Intelligent Optoelectronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 27, 2 April 2026.
Intelligent optoelectronics through spectral engineering of 2D material‐based infrared photodetectors. Abstract The evolution of intelligent optoelectronic systems is driven by artificial intelligence (AI). However, their practical realization hinges on the ability to dynamically capture and process optical signals across a broad infrared (IR) spectrum.

Understanding the Workflows in Non‐Guided and Static Computer‐Assisted Implant Surgery

open access: yesClinical and Experimental Dental Research, Volume 12, Issue 2, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Contemporary implant dentistry aims to achieve long‐term biological, esthetic, and functional successful outcomes. Thus, instrumental to this aim is designing an integrated system in which the supported prosthesis & components, anatomical and phenotypical tissue characteristics, and the fixture act synergistically to maintain peri‐implant ...

Distortion Compensation of Reconstructed Hologram Image in Digital Holographic Display Based on Viewing Window

open access: yesETRI Journal, 2017
A holographic display based on a viewing window enables the converging of a reconstruction wave into a viewing window by means of an optical system. Accordingly, a user can observe a reconstructed hologram image, even with a small diffraction angle.

Using Acoustic Holography for Vibration Analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009

Cell‐MICS: Detecting Immune Cells With Label‐Free Two‐Photon Autofluorescence and Deep Learning

open access: yesJournal of Biophotonics, Volume 19, Issue 4, April 2026.
We demonstrate multiphoton imaging with computational specificity for label‐free cell identification (cell‐MICS). Based on the intrinsic contrast of two‐photon induced autofluorescence from metabolic proteins, a deep neural network is able to distinguish various different immune cell types. The system's performance is stable and efficient.

Holographic memory with localized recording [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
We experimentally demonstrate and characterize a memory module that features selective page erasure and readout persistence using the localized recording method in doubly doped LiNbO3.

Hitchhiker's Guide to the Swampland: The Cosmologist's Handbook to the String‐Theoretical Swampland Programme

open access: yesFortschritte der Physik, Volume 74, Issue 4, April 2026.
Abstract String theory has strong implications for cosmology, implying the absence of a cosmological constant, ruling out single‐field slow‐roll inflation, and that black holes decay. The origins of these statements are elucidated within the string‐theoretical swampland programme.
