Trauma and affect in a Holocaust survivor's story: Rosita Fanto's novel Rozalia Alone

open access: yesOrbis Litterarum, EarlyView.
Abstract My article endeavors to redress the neglect of Rosita Fanto's Rozalia Alone (2010), which deals with a page of history that is less known worldwide, the Holocaust in Romania. Using a trauma studies perspective that mixes with affect theory, the article demonstrates that Rozalia Alone covers in a nutshell the whole magnitude of the late 1930s ...

Compact Snapshot Hyperspectral Imaging With Neural Dispersion‐Engineered Metalens

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 15, 13 August 2026.
A dispersion‐engineered metalens, designed via an end‐to‐end deep learning framework, encodes spectral information through wavelength‐dependent PSF shifts. Fabricated by two‐photon grayscale lithography, the ultrathin device demonstrates outstanding spatial‐spectral reconstruction in both indoor and outdoor scenes, positioning it as a promising ...

Improving the quality of light-field data extracted from a hologram using deep learning

open access: yesETRI Journal
We propose a method to suppress the speckle noise and blur effects of the light field extracted from a hologram using a deep-learning technique. The light field can be extracted by bandpass filtering in the hologram's frequency domain.

Toward Intelligent Multimodal Holography for Real‐Time Chemical Imaging of Dynamic Ion Separation

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, Volume 2, Issue 4, August 2026.
Intelligent multimodal holography integrates digital off‐axis holography, spectroscopic imaging, and AI‐driven reconstruction to visualize ion transport and chemical dynamics in real time. In this perspective paper, we outline how this approach enables label‐free, chemically specific monitoring of complex environments and discuss its potential to ...

From Analytical to Discrete Image-Based Contour Hologram Synthesis: A Comparative Analysis

open access: yesApplied Sciences
A computational comparison between analytical and discrete image-based formulations for contour hologram synthesis is presented. The analytical approach relies on contour parameterization and Fourier-descriptor reconstruction to compute the phase ...

Convergent‐beam X‐ray crystallography

open access: yesJournal of Applied Crystallography, Volume 59, Issue 4, Page 1200-1218, August 2026.
Molecular crystal diffraction with a highly focused X‐ray beam decouples crystal morphology and molecular structure by measuring magnified topographs from every reflection.Molecular and polymeric crystals show a wide range of functional properties that arise from the interplay between the atomic‐scale structure of their constituent molecules and the ...

A Deep Learning Framework for Multi-Plane Computer-Generated Holography

open access: yesPhotonics
Multi-plane computer-generated holography is a key technology for enabling volumetric and near-eye displays. However, its widespread adoption remains constrained by the high computational cost of phase optimization and the persistent issue of axial ...

3D Reconstruction and Holographic XR Navigation in Robot‐Assisted Sacrocolpopexy: A Report of Two Cases

open access: yesJournal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Research, Volume 52, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Dissection at the sacral promontory during robot‐assisted sacrocolpopexy (RSC) is technically demanding because of the proximity of major vascular structures and anatomical variability. We report two cases of RSC in which preoperative three‐dimensional (3D) reconstructed imaging and holographic extended reality (XR) visualization were used for
