Metalens Eyepiece for 3D Holographic Near-Eye Display [PDF]

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2021
Near-eye display (NED) systems for virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) have been rapidly developing; however, the widespread use of VR/AR devices is hindered by the bulky refractive and diffractive elements in the complicated optical system as well as the visual discomfort caused by excessive binocular parallax and accommodation-convergence

Holographic display of synthetic 3D dynamic scene [PDF]

open access: yes3D Research, 2010
A synthetic scene of real-word objects is obtained through the multiplexing of several digital holograms. Moreover, by an opportune numerical hologram deformation, it is possible to synthesize 3D dynamic scenes that can be displayed by means of a spatial light modulator.

Foveated holographic near-eye 3D display

open access: yesOptics Express, 2020
We present a foveated rendering method to accelerate the amplitude-only computer-generated hologram (AO-CGH) calculation in a holographic near-eye 3D display. For a given target image, we compute a high-resolution foveal region and a low-resolution peripheral region with dramatically reduced pixel numbers.

3D Touch Surface for Interactive Pseudo‐Holographic Displays [PDF]

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, 2020
Herein, the design and implementation of a transparent 3D touch‐enabled surface for richer user interaction with midair 3D virtual objects in a touch‐interactive pseudo‐holographic display are presented. Frustrated total internal reflection (FTIR)‐based touch sensing is used in combination with a four‐sided pyramidal pseudo‐holographic projection.

Large‐Scale Huygens’ Metasurfaces for Holographic 3D Near‐Eye Displays [PDF]

open access: yesLaser & Photonics Reviews, 2021
AbstractNovel display technologies aim at providing users with increasingly immersive experiences. It is a long‐sought dream to generate three‐dimensional (3D) scenes with high resolution and continuous depth, which can be overlaid with the real world.

Integral imaging based 3D display of holographic data

open access: yesOptics Express, 2012
We propose a method and present applications of this method that converts a diffraction pattern into an elemental image set in order to display them on an integral imaging based display setup. We generate elemental images based on diffraction calculations as an alternative to commonly used ray tracing methods. Ray tracing methods do not accommodate the

3D Capture and 3D Contents Generation for Holographic Displays

open access: yesImaging and Applied Optics 2016, 2016
Methods for generation of 3D contents for holographic displays and printers with focus on capture/display parameters adjustment are discussed. Input data for the generation process are captured by means of digital holography and profilometry/tomography or are acquired as multiple perspective images or are extracted from a computer graphic model ...

3D holographic head mounted display using holographic optical elements with astigmatism aberration compensation

open access: yesOptics Express, 2015
We propose a bar-type three-dimensional holographic head mounted display using two holographic optical elements. Conventional stereoscopic head mounted displays may suffer from eye fatigue because the images presented to each eye are two-dimensional ones, which causes mismatch between the accommodation and vergence responses of the eye.

Digital Holographic Capture and Optoelectronic Reconstruction for 3D Displays [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Digital Multimedia Broadcasting, 2010
The application of digital holography as a viable solution to 3D capture and display technology is examined. A review of the current state of the field is presented in which some of the major challenges involved in a digital holographic solution are highlighted.

Wearable holographic 3D display system

open access: yesImaging and Applied Optics 2015, 2015
This talk introduces two types of holographic 3D display systems. One system realizes the 3D display by microlens array and the other modulates the wave front in real time based on the complex amplitude modulation. Article not available.
