Waveguide Holography: Towards True 3D Holographic Glasses

open access: yes, 2022
We present a novel near-eye display concept which consists of a waveguide combiner, a spatial light modulator, and a laser light source. The proposed system can display true 3D holographic images through see-through pupil-replicating waveguide combiner ...

Invisible Polymer Walls Enhance Reorientational Optical Nonlinearity in Oligothiophene‐Doped Liquid Crystals

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The polymer wall stabilized dye‐doped liquid crystals (PWLCs) enhance the sensitivity of photoinduced molecular reorientation in dye‐doped LC systems. The PWLC with an invisible polymer wall successfully reduces the threshold intensity and functions as an optical limiter under the incidence of low intensity light laser source.

Perceived Depth Control in Stereoscopic Cinematography [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Despite the recent explosion of interest in the stereoscopic 3D (S3D) technology, the ultimate prevailing of the S3D medium is still significantly hindered by adverse effects regarding the S3D viewing discomfort.

Depth-Enhanced Holographic Super Multi-View Maxwellian Display Based on Variable Filter Aperture

open access: yesMicromachines, 2023
The super multi-view (SMV) near-eye display (NED) effectively provides depth cues for three-dimensional (3D) displays by projecting multiple viewpoint images or parallax images onto the retina simultaneously. Previous SMV NED suffers from a limited depth

On resolution and viewing of holographic image generated by 3D holographic display

open access: yesOptics Express, 2010
In the paper Wigner Distribution (WD) representation analysis of holographic display is presented. The display reconstructs holographic image by means of Spatial Light Modulator. Two major aspects are covered: imaging and viewing. Optically reconstructed images are characterized by low and spatially variant resolution.

Localized Temperature Monitoring in Mouse Brain during Light Delivery via a Non‐Planar Tapered Fiber‐Integrated µRTD Sensor

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We report a multifunctional tapered optical fiber integrating a conformal micro‐resistance temperature detector (µRTD) for local, real‐time thermometry during optical stimulation. The platform combines light‐delivery and temperature sensing within a minimally invasive footprint, enabling detection of sub‐degree cortical heating under representative ...

Compact Computational Holographic Display (Invited Article)

open access: yes, 2022
Holographic display is an ultimate three-dimensional (3D) display technique that can produce the wavefront of 3D objects. The dynamic holographic display usually requires a spatial light modulator (SLM) with a following 4f system to eliminate the ...

Method of Speckle Noise Suppression for Holographic Zoom Display Based on Layered-Pixel-Scanning Algorithm

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
In this paper, a method of speckle noise suppression for holographic zoom display based on layered-pixel-scanning (LPS) algorithm is proposed. Different from the traditional algorithm, the proposed method suppresses the speckle noise based on a new ...
