Experiments in holographic video imaging

SPIE Proceedings, 1990
Reduction of the information content of a hologram to the minimum necessary to support strong spatial perception makes possible the interactive computation, transmission, and display of three-dimensional animated holographic images.

Digital holographic video for studying biological particles

Journal of Optical Technology, 2012
This paper discusses the features of determining the coordinates of biological particles when digital holographic video is used. Experimental results are presented that show that it is possible to take into account rotational motion of a particle. The possibility of refining the coordinates of a particle by using a two-aspect holographic layout is ...

Holographic Video System with a Pulse Laser

Japanese Journal of Applied Physics, 1998
A holographic video system operated by a pulse laser is described. The use of a pulse laser as the light source allows the polygon mirror (or scanners) in the system to be eliminated. At the same time, a single long aperture acousto-optic modulator (AOM) is replaced by 6 small aperture AOMs linearly aligned and a still polygon mirror set ...

A Single-Chip FPGA Holographic Video Processor

IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2019
In this paper, we present the world's first single-chip field-programmable gate array holographic video processor. It makes 16 computer-generated color holograms of resolution 1920 × 1080 in a second. It uses an off-the-shelf commercial liquid crystral display for the spatial light modulator.

HOLOGRAPHIC VIDEO: The ultimate visual interface?

Optics and Photonics News, 1997
While holographic video is a realistic concept in contemporary science fiction, it remains an illusive technology. St. Hilaire discusses the need for advanced visual interfaces, and explains the history, present state, and future of the technology, with an emphasis on the MIT Media Laboratory project.

Temporal Consistency Enhancement for Digital Holographic Video

2015
Holography is an imaging technique to reconstruct wavefront information of the light scattered by real objects or a scene, allowing an observer to perceive three-dimensional 3D images with the unassisted eye. Such 3D holographic images result from reproducing the intensity and phase of light by diffraction.

Bits in space: Speeding up holographic video

CLEO '97., Summaries of Papers Presented at the Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics, 1997
Electronic holography, as developed by the MIT Media Laboratory’s Spatial Imaging Group, is a truly three-dimensional real-time digital imaging medium.
