Spectroscopic Signatures of Structural Disorder and Electron‐Phonon Interactions in Trigonal Selenium Thin Films for Solar Energy Harvesting

open access: yesSmall Methods, Volume 10, Issue 3, 9 February 2026.
Selenium plays hard to get ‐ volatile, low radiative efficiency, and highly sensitive to processing. Using a closed‐space encapsulation strategy, we probe room‐temperature photoluminescence and quantify structural disorder, showing how precise structural control can turn selenium into a high‐performance optoelectronic material of tomorrow.

Imaging malaria parasites across scales and time

open access: yesJournal of Microscopy, Volume 301, Issue 2, Page 122-150, February 2026.
Abstract The idea that disease is caused at the cellular level is so fundamental to us that we might forget the critical role microscopy played in generating and developing this insight. Visually identifying diseased or infected cells lays the foundation for any effort to curb human pathology.

Artificial intelligence‐powered microscopy: Transforming the landscape of parasitology

open access: yesJournal of Microscopy, Volume 301, Issue 2, Page 280-329, February 2026.
Abstract Microscopy and image analysis play a vital role in parasitology research; they are critical for identifying parasitic organisms and elucidating their complex life cycles. Despite major advancements in imaging and analysis, several challenges remain. These include the integration of interdisciplinary data; information derived from various model

Bis(2‐amino‐5‐thienyl)Ketone as Oxygen Tolerant Sensitizer for Conventional Radical Photopolymerization

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, Volume 65, Issue 5, 28 January 2026.
Bis(2‐amino‐5‐thienyl)ketones operate as sensitizer in multi‐component photoinitiating systems using either diaryl iodonium cation or amino benzoates as coinitiators to initiate conventional radical polymerization following either oxidative or reduction photoinduced electron transfer protocol, respectively.

Phase Modulation for Quadruplex Channels of Arbitrary Orthogonal Polarization States via Bilayer Metasurfaces

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 2, 27 January 2026.
This work demonstrates a strategy for four‐channel phase modulation and flexible energy distribution of arbitrary orthogonal states of polarization under incomplete polarization conversion conditions. Such a strategy can be implemented through an all‐dielectric free‐standing bilayer metasurface configuration and can be used for multichannel optical ...
