Seasonality in resumption of ovarian activity and reproductive performance of postpartum Holstein cows

open access: yesThe Journal of Reproduction and Development, 2022
It has been suggested that domestication has turned cattle from seasonal breeders to annual breeders. This study examined the seasonal differences in early postpartum ovulation and subsequent reproductive performance in 542 Holstein cows. Cows displaying

Prospects of modernization of cattle breeding processes [PDF]

open access: yesBIO Web of Conferences, 2023
The development of livestock in industrialized nations has shown that when breeding activity is well-organized, it is feasible to enhance breeds and quickly boost output.

Integrated Small RNA Sequencing, Transcriptome and GWAS Data Reveal microRNA Regulation in Response to Milk Protein Traits in Chinese Holstein Cattle

open access: yesFrontiers in Genetics, 2021
Milk protein is one of the most important economic traits in the dairy industry. Yet, the regulatory network of miRNAs for the synthesis of milk protein in mammary is poorly understood.

Holstein polaron [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review B, 1999
We describe a variational method to solve the Holstein model for an electron coupled to dynamical, quantum phonons on an infinite lattice. The variational space can be systematically expanded to achieve high accuracy with modest computational resources (12-digit accuracy for the 1d polaron energy at intermediate coupling).

Body Condition Score and Milk Production on Conception Rate of Cows under a Small-Scale Dairy System

open access: yesAnimals, 2019
Management and production characteristics impact conception rate to first service (CR1S) in small-scale dairy farms, but the impact of body condition score (BCS) and milk production levels on cows’ fertility is unknown.

Relaxation Dynamics of the Holstein Polaron [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2012
Keeping the full quantum nature of the problem we compute the relaxation time of the Holstein polaron after it was driven far from the equilibrium by a strong oscillatory pulse. Just after the pulse the polaron's kinetic energy increases and subsequently exhibits relaxation type decrease with simultaneous emission of phonons.

Bio-economical model application in cattle breeding

open access: yesActa Agriculturae Slovenica, 2005
Dairy production systems are complex and cannot be described by a single profit function. In a bio-economical model, relevant biological and economical aspects of the production system are described as a system of equations.

Optical Conductivity of the Holstein Polaron [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2011
The Momentum Average approximation is used to derive a new kind of non-perturbational analytical expression for the optical conductivity (OC) of a Holstein polaron at zero temperature. This provides insight into the shape of the OC, by linking it to the structure of the polaron's phonon cloud.
