Perinatal calf mortality (PCM) and multiple pregnancies (twins) present significant challenges in dairy cattle breeding, impacting both economic viability and reproductive performance. This study examined risk factors for stillbirths and twin births in a

Large-radius Holstein polaron and the problem of spontaneous symmetry breaking
A translation-invariant solution is found for a large-radius Holstein polaron whose energy in the strong coupling limit is lower than that obtained by Holstein. The wave function corresponding to this solution is delocalized.

Quantitative determination of fatty acids in the University of Vermont\u27s CREAM herd followed over the course of six months [PDF]
Holstein and Jersey cows were used to determine how the fatty acid profile of their milk differed with regard to breed of cow and season over the course of six months.

Surgical Treatment of a Unique Dermatofibroma in a Lactating Holstein Cow: Histopathologic and Immunohistochemical Features [PDF]
A lactating 6-year-old, black-white, Holstein cow, weighing about 300 kg, presented for a mass on her carp joint (right forelimb) with severe swelling of the entire carp. The cow had untreated swelling 3 months before.

Isospin Mixing and Model Dependence [PDF]
We show that recent calculations of \Delta I=3/2 effects in nonleptonic hyperon decay induced by m_d-m_u\neq 0 are subject to significant model dependence.Comment: 8 page standard Latex ...

Searching of Pregnancy Rate in Repeat Breeder Cows by Embryo Transfer Practices
The aim of this study is to compare the pregnancy rates by applying embryo transfer to the cows which are not pregnant and should be removed from herd as repeat breeder. In this study, 87 randomlyselected Holstein cows utilized.

We describe a variational method to solve the Holstein model for an electron coupled to dynamical, quantum phonons on an infinite lattice. The variational space can be systematically expanded to achieve high accuracy with modest computational resources (12-digit accuracy for the 1d polaron energy at intermediate coupling).

Spectral Properties of Holstein and Breathing Polarons
We calculate the spectral properties of the one-dimensional Holstein and breathing polarons using the self-consistent Born approximation. The Holstein model electron-phonon coupling is momentum independent while the breathing coupling increases ...
