The COVID-19 pandemic brought about social distancing, self-isolation, and movement control orders, leading to an increased demand for food and disruptions in the supply chain. Consequently, home gardening gained popularity as a productive and environmentally friendly activity, inspiring Penang residents to grow their greens.

1987Excerpt: The main objective of this paper is to describe a method of determining the cost effectiveness of home garden projects. For comparative analyses, evaluations must use consistent indicators. Donors need "proof" that home gardening projects are cost-effective interventions. Implementors need better information on what works and what doesn't.
