2001It appears that the constancy of body temperature, among other metabolic equilibria, depends to a certain extent on a homeostatically regulated ratio of brain redox buffer components, which are in virtually all animal cells, glutathione and its disulfide. Glutathione serves additionally as an antioxidant by directly reacting with radicals.
