PROPAGATING MODES OF A HETEROGENEOUS, MACRO-HOMOGENEOUS CONTINUUM [PDF]
A method is developed to calculate the dispersion of propagating elastic modes in heterogeneous, macro-homogeneous media. A time-periodic solution of the wave equation is defined inside a volume V by imposing a plane-wave character on the boundary Σ completely surrounding V.

Objective The aim of this study was to determine the differences in demographic, serologic, and clinical characteristics between male and female patients with systemic sclerosis (SSc) in an Australian cohort. Methods This was a retrospective observational study using data from the Australian Scleroderma Cohort Study.

On Effros continua and the uniform property of Effros
We recall a theorem by E. G. Effros about the actions of a separable complete metric group acting transitively on a complete metric space. We consider the definition, by D. P. Bellamy and K. F.

No homogeneous tree-like continuum contains an arc [PDF]
In 1960 R. H. Bing [ 4 , p. 210] asked the following question. "Is there a homogeneous tree-like continuum that contains an arc?" We answer this question in the negative. This result generalizes Bing’s theorem [ 4 , p.

Anorectal Dysfunction in Systemic Sclerosis: Clinical Phenotypes and Functional Patterns
Objective The aim of this study was to characterize specific physiologic defects in anorectal dysfunction in systemic sclerosis (SSc) using anorectal manometry (ARM), evaluate associations with gastrointestinal (GI) and extraintestinal clinical phenotypes, and explore potential serologic markers for risk stratification.

From Adult to Adolescent: Alignment in Clinical Trials and Outcomes in Axial Spondyloarthritis
Spondyloarthritis (SpA) is a group of chronic inflammatory diseases encompassing axial and peripheral forms, with up to 20% of patients developing symptoms before age 16. Despite this substantial pediatric burden, treatment options for juvenile‐onset SpA (JSpA), particularly those with axial disease (axJSpA), remain limited.

Homogenization and continuum limit of mechanical metamaterials
When used in bulk applications, mechanical metamaterials set forth a multiscale problem with many orders of magnitude in scale separation between the micro and macro scales. However, mechanical metamaterials fall outside conventional homogenization theory on account of the flexural, or bending, response of their members, including torsion. We show that

Objective Test the hypothesis that multi‐joint osteoarthritis would modify the relation between time and frailty progression, where more affected joints would lead to larger declines over 6‐years compared to those without osteoarthritis using data from the Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging.

Transformation of diagrams of isolines for scalar properties of ternary homogeneous mixtures
The article considers the transformation of the structures of contour diagrams for scalar properties of three-component homogeneous mixtures (composition-property diagrams).
