Guiding and Manipulating Light Fields in Microstructured Liquid Crystals
This review summarizes recent advances in guided‐wave optics enabled by microstructured liquid crystal (LC) devices, covering their fundamental material properties, key degree of freedom for dynamic light field manipulations. The advances of linear guided‐wave optics, nonlinear‐optics with spatial optical solitons, and microlasers in LC‐based devices ...

ABSTRACT We perform probabilistic seismic hazard analysis (PSHA) in the Shillong Plateau by clubbing the up‐to‐date earthquake data and seismotectonic properties of the study area. Twenty‐one areal seismic sources are delineated based on the updated earthquake catalog, tectonic, and fault plane solutions.

Bell’s twin rockets non-inertial length enigma resolved by real geometry
A priori uniformity and monotonicity of the ‘non-inertial length’ expansion of a uniformly co-accelerating medium, uniquely yield an unfamiliar ‘hemicoid’ real-values metric surface ϒ in R3.

Geodesics in reductive homogeneous spaces [PDF]
The author studies geodesics in reductive homogeneous spaces satisfying certain conditions. He shows that some Kähler \(C\)-spaces with second Betti number equal to one and connected semisimple Lie groups with certain left invariant metrics are examples of those spaces.

Unique characteristics of winter daily minimum (Tmin) and maximum (Tmax) temperatures and freeze days across the conterminous United States from 1952 to 2024 are examined. Results show spatial heterogeneity in Tmin/Tmax warming rates across the tropical‐temperate transition zone in the southeastern United States, and that the highest temperature on the

Riemannian generalized C-spaces with homogeneous geodesics [PDF]
We investigate homogeneous geodesics in a class of homogeneous spaces G/K' called generalized C-spaces. We give necessary conditions so that a G-invariant metric on G/K' is a g.o. metric.

PSEUDO-RIEMANNIAN GEODESIC ORBIT METRICS ON CERTAIN COMPACT HOMOGENEOUS SPACES [PDF]
A pseudo-Riemannian metric is called geodesic orbit if its geodesics are the orbits of oneparameter subgroups of the group of isometries. In this paper, we study pseudo-Riemannian geodesic orbit metrics on compact homogeneous spaces.

Manufacturability‐aware multi‐objective screening of Type IV filament‐wound composite pressure‐vessel cylindrical sections toward lightweight and high‐strength designs. ABSTRACT A manufacturability‐aware preliminary screening framework is proposed for the straight cylindrical section of filament‐wound Type IV composite pressure vessels.

Sliding Mode Control in Aerospace Applications: A Survey
ABSTRACT Sliding mode control (SMC) enjoys robustness to matched and unmatched (in the case of minimum phase input‐output dynamics) bounded perturbations, and finite time convergence. Second‐order and higher‐order sliding mode control systems (2‐SMC/HOSMC) retain all the advantages of sliding mode control, but in addition can be applied to systems of ...
