Approximation by homogeneous polynomials

open access: yesJournal of Approximation Theory, 2013
Uniform approximations by even degree homogeneous polynomials are considered. For a centrally symmetric convex set with nonempty interior, all even continuous functions on its boundary (in two space dimensions; the problem is open for higher dimensions) can be uniformly approximated by them. This is a new, more elementary proof of this fact.

Spectra of some algebras of entire functions of bounded type, generated by a sequence of polynomials

open access: yesKarpatsʹkì Matematičnì Publìkacìï, 2019
In this work, we investigate the properties of the topological algebra of entire functions of bounded type, generated by a countable set of homogeneous polynomials on a complex Banach space. Let $X$ be a complex Banach space. We consider a subalgebra $

Unveiling a Bulk WTaV Multicomponent Alloy With Superior Thermal Properties and Manufacturability

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Many tungsten (W)‐based medium and high entropy alloys (HEA) demonstrate superior microstructural stability and enhanced mechanical properties as compared to pure W, effectively rendering them as viable candidate materials for extreme environments such as nuclear fusion, aerospace applications, and so on.

Homogeneous Polynomials with a Multiplication Theorem [PDF]

open access: yesTransactions of the American Mathematical Society, 1929
This was known to Diophantus.t Euler and Degen noticed that, similarly, a sum of n squares admits composition when n = 4 or 8, and Hurwitzt proved that such is true only when n= 1, 2, 4, 8. Two other well known examples are the multiplication theorem for determinants whose n2 elements are independent variables and the norms of algebraic numbers ...

Vacuum–Laser Fabrication of Programmable Soft Actuators

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A rapid and accessible fabrication strategy for inflatable soft actuators is presented, combining vacuum sealing with laser cutting of low‐cost thermoplastic pouches. The method enables precise sealing, fast fabrication, and programmable multi‐cell geometries.

Boosting Fast‐Charging Performance of Ni‐Rich NCM9055 Cathodes with Nb2O5 Dual Functional Modification

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A dual‐functional Nb2O5 modulation strategy is reported to overcome kinetic limitations in Ni‐rich cathodes. The formation of LiNbO3 phase at the grain boundary of the polycrystalline NCM9055 cathode preserves a radially aligned microstructure and establishes fast lithium‐ion pathways.

Rapid Room‐Temperature Synthesis of Te4+‐Doped Cs2ZrCl6 Vacancy‐Ordered Double Perovskites With Tunable Luminescence Triggered by Extreme Conditions for Advanced Optical Thermometry and Manometry

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Through utilizing a proposed rapid room‐temperature precipitation method, the Te4+‐doped Cs2ZrCl6 vacancy‐ordered doubles with intense STE emission were synthesized. Via using the extreme conditions, i.e., temperature and pressure, stimulus, the luminescence properties of the resulting compounds are significantly modulated, endowing their promising ...

Volume of Sublevel Sets of Homogeneous Polynomials [PDF]

open access: yesSIAM Journal on Applied Algebra and Geometry, 2019
Consider the sub level set K := {x : g(x) $\le$ 1} where g is a positive and homogeneous polynomial. We show that its Lebesgue volume can be approximated as closely as desired by solving a sequence of generalized eigenvalue problems with respect to a pair of Hankel matrices of increasing size, and whose entries are obtained in closed form.

Scalable Laser Processing Enables Transparent, Accretion Scale‐Independent, Ice‐Shedding Glass

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We demonstrate a scalable laser‐based method to create wave‐like micro‐patterns on glass surfaces that counter the conventional view that roughness increases ice adhesion. These patterns direct crack propagation at the ice–glass interface, enabling low‐force, multi‐directional ice detachment while maintaining substrate transparency. A theoretical model
