Dynamic Behavior of Kinetic Projectile Impact on Honeycomb Sandwich Panels and Multi-Layer Plates

open access: yesCrystals, 2022
In order to study the dynamic response associated with the impact of a kinetic projectile on the internal structure of an artificial satellite, we propose a kinetic projectile configuration with non-metallic material wrapping and multiple damage elements.

Patterning the Void: Combining L‐Systems with Archimedean Tessellations as a Perspective for Tissue Engineering Scaffolds

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces a novel multi‐scale scaffold design using L‐fractals arranged in Archimedean tessellations for tissue regeneration. Despite similar porosity, tiles display vastly different tensile responses (1–100 MPa) and deformation modes. In vitro experiments with hMSCs show geometry‐dependent growth and activity. Over 55 000 tile combinations

Designing a Three-Dimensional Woven Fabric Structure as an Element of a Baby Stroller

open access: yesAUTEX Research Journal, 2022
A baby stroller allows the transportation of a child over long or short distances. The materials used to produce the stroller make it heavy for users, which creates difficulties when lifting the stroller.

Superconducting states of pure and doped graphene

open access: yes, 2007
We study the superconducting phases of the two-dimensional honeycomb lattice of graphene. We find two spin singlet pairing states, s-wave and an exotic $p+ip$ that is possible because of the special structure of the honeycomb lattice.

On‐Surface Indigo‐Based Bimolecular Coordination Networks with Programmable Regular or Vitreous Structure

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A previously unreported coordination motif stabilising single Fe atoms by indigo chelation and pyridyl coordination on Au(111) has been revealed. By using planar tritopic pyridyl linkers (TPyB), extended 2D porous networks of indigo3(TPyB)2Fe6 form. These networks can be crystalline or vitreous and offer an environment where individual coordination ...

Propagation Analysis of an RFID System in the UHF Band in the Honeycomb Frame of a Beehive

open access: yesSensors
In recent years, communication systems, including RFID, have been used in intelligent beehives for beekeeping. RFID systems in the UHF frequency band offer reading distances of tens of centimetres, allowing the localisation and identification of the ...
