Native biocrust microbes modulate salinity‐driven recruitment filters in coastal wetlands

open access: yesRestoration Ecology, EarlyView.
Abstract Introduction Mediterranean coastal wetlands are biodiversity hotspots increasingly threatened by climate change, particularly by salinization, which strongly constrains plant recruitment during early life stages. Native soil microbiota may provide nature‐based solutions (NbS) to enhance plant establishment under saline conditions.

Comparison of conjunctival pedicle flap to corneal fixation strength achieved by Tisseel® fibrin glue, ethyl cyanoacrylate adhesive, ReSure® hydrogel sealant, and conventional suturing with 8‐0 VICRYL® ophthalmic suture

open access: yesVeterinary Ophthalmology, Volume 28, Issue 2, Page 253-263, March 2025.
Abstract Objective To determine and compare the fixation strength of conjunctival pedicle flaps to cornea achieved via conventional ophthalmic suture and three different adhesive compounds. Animals Studied Ex vivo porcine globes. Procedures Following a 6 mm wide 500‐micron‐restricted depth lamellar keratectomy, conjunctival pedicle flaps were secured ...

Placental mitochondrial metabolic adaptation maintains cellular energy balance in pregnancy complicated by gestational hypoxia

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend Placental mitochondrial adaptation to gestational hypoxia. Hypoxic pregnancy in sheep increases placental insulin like growth factor 2 (IGF2) signalling (1), which is associated with a shift in capacity away from β‐oxidation (2) and complex I‐mediated respiration (3), while maintaining total oxidative phosphorylation capacity (4).

Beyond Total Content: Assessing the Bioaccessibility of Metals in Tattoo Inks Using Validated Extraction Media

open access: yesAnalytical Science Advances, Volume 7, Issue 2, December 2026.
ABSTRACT A validated analytical workflow is presented for determining total and bioaccessible concentrations of regulated elements in tattoo inks, addressing the lack of harmonized protocols for comparing extraction approaches in complex matrices. Although current legislation defines limits for soluble fractions of selected metals, it does not specify ...

Pea Protein Extraction Techniques: A Comparative Study With Commercial Pea and Soy Proteins

open access: yesLegume Science, Volume 8, Issue 4, December 2026.
ABSTRACT Two common methods used to separate plant‐based proteins are wet extraction and dry fractionation. To identify the most suitable industrial applications, this study investigated the effects of wet extraction and dry fractionation on the physicochemical and functional properties of the Australian yellow field pea proteins, comparing them ...

Wheat‐Based Inks With Pea Protein Incorporation for 3D Printing Free of Flow Enhancers and Stabilizers: Effects on Rheological Properties and Printing Fidelity

open access: yesSustainable Food Proteins, Volume 4, Issue 4, December 2026.
Increasing pea protein isolate (0%–35%) in wheat‐based inks enhanced viscoelastic modulus and post‐shear viscosity, improving self‐supporting capacity after 3D printing. However, elevated temperature (50°C) increased the loss factor (tan δ), reducing printing fidelity. Optimal printability was achieved at 20°C with 25% PPI and 50% water.

Interaction With Surface Spins as a Contribution to Nuclear Magnetic Relaxation of Liquids Adsorbed in Mesoporous Materials

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Chemistry, Volume 64, Issue 11, Page 917-929, November 2026.
Liquids at silica interfaces experience demixing as a consequence of their respective polarity. The distribution of liquids and their primary relaxation contributions are studied by surface modification with OD and radical moieties, respectively. ABSTRACT NMR relaxation of liquids in the presence of solid interfaces, such as silica gel or porous glass,

Norwegian Tagging of Harp Seals and Hooded Seals in north atlantic waters

open access: yes, 1964
The tail tag and the tagging method are described. A total of 711 harp and hooded seals have been tagged in the years 1951-1963. Excepting experimental tagging of one adult and 18 immature harp seals in the Barents Sea in 1963, all seals have been tagged as pups, at Newfoundland in 1951-1952, in the Jan Mayen area in 1951-1963, and in the Barents Sea ...

Macro‐ and Micromechanical Deformations and Failure of Recycled PET/Flax Polyester Biocomposites

open access: yesPolymer Composites, Volume 47, Issue 20, Page 18083-18096, 20 October 2026.
Macro‐ and Micromechanical Deformations and Failure of Recycled PET/Flax Polyester Biocomposites. ABSTRACT Environmental sustainability has become a global priority aimed at reducing waste generation and dependence on fossil resources. This study reports on the development of sustainable biocomposites by combining flax woven fabrics (2, 4, and 6 plies)
