Horizon Picking in 3D Seismic Images [PDF]

open access: yesScandinavian Conference on Image Analysis, 2003
In this paper, we present an automatic horizon picking algorithm, based on a surface detection technique, to detect horizons in 3D seismic data. The surface detection technique, and the use of 6- connectivity, allows us to detect fragments of horizons which are afterwards combined to form full horizons.

Accessing Horizon Picking Uncertainty using Complex Seismic Trace Attributes

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Geophysics
Many uncertainty sources are linked to the reservoir modeling processes, significantly affecting all phases of the exploration, development, and production phases of an oil & gas field. Structural uncertainty due to velocity models are commonly considered by taking a range of equiprobable domain conversion velocity models and evaluating the related

The benefit of complete trip information in free-floating carsharing systems

open access: yesEURO Journal on Transportation and Logistics, 2023
Free-floating and instant-access carsharing systems are two features of the most flexible carsharing systems. In the former, users are allowed to freely park the car in any legal parking spot within the boundaries defined by the service operator.

Economic and Ecological Evaluation of Land Use Change: Evidence from Karelia [PDF]

open access: yesЭкономика региона, 2017
Land use change and a shift in economic activity often bring to unpredictable consequences for local ecosystems. There is a necessity of making preliminary evaluation and analysis of comparing the different types of economic and ecological ...

Quantifying the impact of the structural uncertainty on the gross rock volume in the Lubina and Montanazo oil fields (Western Mediterranean) [PDF]

open access: yesSolid Earth, 2019
Structural uncertainty is a key parameter affecting the accuracy of the information contained in static and dynamic reservoir models. However, quantifying and assessing its real impact on reservoir property distribution, in-place volume estimates and ...

Stochastic modelling of spatial variability of petrophysical properties in parts of the Niger Delta Basin, southern Nigeria

open access: yesJournal of Petroleum Exploration and Production Technology, 2019
Three-dimensional models of petrophysical properties were constructed using stochastic methods to reduce ambiguities associated with estimates for which data is limited to well locations alone.

Biostratigraphy of the Upper Devonian-Lower Carboniferous deposits in Mighan section, northeast Shahrood, Eastern Alborz [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Stratigraphy and Sedimentology Researches, 2019
The Devonian/Carboniferous (DC) transition is characterized by several transgressive/regressive cycles which led to a widespread ocean anoxia known as the Hangenberg Black Shale Event (HBS), close to the D/C boundary a major sea-level fall (Hangenberg ...

On Thermodynamical Properties of Some Coset CFT Backgrounds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
We investigate the thermodynamical features of two Lorentzian signature backgrounds that arise in string theory as exact CFTs and possess more than two disconnected asymptotic regions: the 2-d charged black hole and the Nappi-Witten cosmological model ...

Thermodynamics and phase transitions of NUTty dyons

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2019
Picking up the threads on a recent proposal [1], we show how to formulate consistent thermodynamics of Lorentzian Taub-NUT spacetimes in the presence of electric and magnetic charges.

Lovelock theories, holography and the fate of the viscosity bound [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We consider Lovelock theories of gravity in the context of AdS/CFT. We show that, for these theories, causality violation on a black hole background can occur well in the interior of the geometry, thus posing more stringent constraints than were ...
