Dynamic behavior of reinforced walls – Horizontal displacement response
Geotextiles and Geomembranes, 2011Abstract A series of uni-axial shaking table tests using step-wise intensified sinusoidal waves is performed on plane-strain geosynthetic-reinforced slopes to investigate the effects of wave frequency and amplitude to the seismic displacements of geosynthetic-reinforced slopes.

Horizontal displacements of rock foundations of dams
Hydrotechnical Construction, 1987Horizontal displacements of rock foundations toward the lower pool are small and even for high (100 m and more) dams in narrow and wide sites do not exceed 15–20 m. Ths displacements rapidly die away with depth and at 10–15 m from the contact decrease by almost an order, and lower the displacements of rocks toward the upper pool as a consequence of ...

Apparent horizontal displacements in time‐lapse seismic images
SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts 2008, 2008In addition to vertical time shifts commonly observed in time-lapse seismic images, horizontal displacements are apparent as well. These apparent horizontal displacements may be small relatively to seismic wavelengths, perhaps only 5 m at depths of 5 km, but they consistently suggest an outward lateral expansion of images away from a compacting ...

A spatial displacement model for horizontally curved beams
Structural Engineering and Mechanics, 2003A new approach to the analysis of horizontally curved beams is presented in this paper. The proposed method simplifies a two-dimensional structure into a one-dimensional structure just like a normal beam for structural analysis and, therefore, reduces the computational effort significantly.

Rate of Horizontal Fault Displacement in New Zealand
Nature, 1972ACCORDING to theories of plate tectonics1, a band of concentrated horizontal strain extends from a triple-point junction near 60° S 158° E through New Zealand to a triple-point junction near 2° S 128° E. The region of the band of strain within New Zealand is known as the Alpine Fault Zone2.

Load-Displacement Prediction for Horizontally Loaded Vertical Plates
Journal of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering, 1997The load-displacement behavior of horizontally loaded vertical anchor plates as reported in 128 published field and laboratory investigations has been studied. Laboratory and field results documented in the literature have been collected for shallow anchor plates with a variety of configurations and embedded in different types of sands.
