ANNUAL DAYLIGHTING PERFORMANCE OF AN INNOVATIVE, EFFICIENT, FULL-SCALE HORIZONTAL LIGHT PIPE

CIE x050:2023 Proceedings of the 30th Session of the CIE, Ljubljana, Slovenia, September 15 – 23, 2023, Volume 1, 2023
This paper introduces an efficient daylighting technology designed to enhance lighting conditions in deep interior spaces of multi-story buildings without increased solar heat gains. This passive horizontal solar light pipe redirects sunlight effectively to distances ranging from 5 m to 10 m from the facade.

Daylighting Performance of Integrated Venetian Blinds with Horizontal Light Pipe System for Deep Plan High-Rise Office in Tropical Climate

Journal of Advanced Research in Applied Sciences and Engineering Technology, 2022
A substantial amount of daylight is received by tropical countries like Malaysia. There are advantages and disadvantages to using this renewable resource in a high-rise office building. Such buildings' deep plan spaces make it difficult to create a uniform daylight distribution across the space.

Computer simulation study of a horizontal light pipe integrated with laser cut panels in a dense urban environment

Lighting Research & Technology, 2008
A computer simulation study on the daylighting performance of a horizontal light pipe system integrated with laser cut panels at the entrance and output apertures was performed for two identical test rooms with different degree of obstructions in a dense urban environment under the CIE clear sky condition.

Horizontal light pipe system for daylighting optimization in deep-plan library spaces in a tropical climate

Deep-plan library spaces typically suffer from poor daylight penetration to the core, which reduces visual comfort and increases dependence on artificial lighting. Horizontal Light Pipes (HLPs) are a passive daylighting system that captures daylight through an inlet and transports it through a reflective pipe before distributing it into the interior ...
