Application of calibration masks to TV vidicon tube [PDF]

open access: yes, 1971
Photographic application method devised for overlaying test pattern masks on TV camera vidicon tubes prints the mask within 0.0076 cm of the vertical and horizontal center lines of the tube face.

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Numerical Study on Heat Transfer and Enhancement Mechanism in PCM-Filled Shell-and-Tube Heat Exchangers

open access: yesFrontiers in Energy Research, 2022
A numerical model was established using the enthalpy-porosity approach to study the heat transfer characteristics of a shell-and-tube phase change heat exchanger filled with paraffin wax RT50.

3D view of transient horizontal magnetic fields in the photosphere

open access: yes, 2010
We infer the 3D magnetic structure of a transient horizontal magnetic field (THMF) during its evolution through the photosphere using SIRGAUS inversion code. The SIRGAUS code is a modified version of SIR (Stokes Inversion based on Response function), and

Screening and epitope characterization of Nidogen‐2‐specific nanobodies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Camel immunization and phage display were employed to generate high‐affinity VHH nanobodies against Nidogen‐2. After library construction, biopanning, ELISA screening, sequencing, and recombinant expression, selected nanobodies were purified and characterized, leading to the preliminary exploration of a nanobody‐based sandwich ELISA for specific ...

Condensation of organic binary mixtures flowing horizontally in a horizontal tube bundle

open access: yesHeat Transfer ‐ Japanese Research, 1996
Both heat and mass transfer in the gas phase and heat transfer in the liquid phase are examined experimentally for film condensation of organic binary mixtures such as ethanol-water and methanol-water. Experimental results on average heat flux, gas-liquid interface temperature and liquid-phase Nusselt number are compared with the analytical solutions ...

YIPFα1A expression is regulated by multilayered molecular mechanisms

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
YIPFα1A, a five‐pass Golgi protein, is regulated at multiple layers. (1) Rare‐codon enrichment drives translation‐coupled mRNA decay. (2) A proximal 3′‐UTR element stabilizes mRNA. (3) A distal 3′‐UTR element included by alternate poly(A) site usage represses translation, which can be overridden by the proximal 3′‐UTR element.

Numerical Investigation of Hydrothermal Performance Enhancement Using Modified Twisted Tape Having a Curved and Concave Cross-section Inserted in a Horizontal Tube [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Fluid Mechanics
The present study investigated the enhancement of convective heat transfer in horizontal tubes using twisted tape inserts, particularly emphasizing the influence of modifications to their geometrical configurations.

Dynamics of the Solar Magnetic Network. II. Heating the Magnetized Chromosphere

open access: yes, 2008
We consider recent observations of the chromospheric network, and argue that the bright network grains observed in the Ca II H & K lines are heated by an as yet unidentified quasi-steady process.
