Nonlinear effects of post-denudation timing on day 3 embryo outcomes in ICSI and evidence for a translatable optimization window

open access: yesJournal of Translational Medicine
Background Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) is performed in over half of assisted reproductive technology cycles globally; however, the optimal interval between oocyte denudation and sperm injection remains undefined in clinical guidelines.

ITRAQ-based proteomics analysis of human ectopic endometrial stromal cells treated by Maqian essential oil

open access: yesBMC Complementary Medicine and Therapies, 2023
Background Endometriosis is a common and complex syndrome characterized by the presence of endometrial-like tissue outside the uterus. Chinese medicine has been recently found to show good efficacy in treating endometriosis. Our previous results revealed

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Association of TP53 rs1042522 G > C, MDM2 rs2279744 T > G, and miR-34b/c rs4938723 T > C polymorphisms with aneuploidy pregnancy susceptibility

open access: yesBMC Pregnancy and Childbirth, 2023
Background Aneuploidy pregnancy is a severe major birth defect and causes about 50% spontaneous miscarriages with unknown etiology. To date, only a few epidemiological studies with small sample sizes have investigated the risk factors for aneuploidy ...

Stimulator of interferon genes agonist augmented antitumor immunity of osimertinib in Egfr‐mutated lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining osimertinib with the STING agonist ADU‐S100 activates innate and adaptive immunity to overcome the non‐inflamed microenvironment of Egfr‐mutant lung cancer. This combination increases NK and CD8+ T‐cell infiltration, associated with activation of the STING‐IRF3 pathway and local immunogenic cell death.

Association of maternal prenatal phthalate exposure and genetic polymorphisms of metabolic enzyme genes with spontaneous preterm birth: a nested case–control study in China

open access: yesBMC Pregnancy and Childbirth
Background The relationship between prenatal phthalate exposure and preterm birth from previous studies has been inconsistent. Meanwhile, few studies have explored the relationship between spontaneous preterm birth (SPTB) and genetic polymorphisms of ...

Somatostatin receptor 4 (SSTR4) is a tumor suppressor in cutaneous and head & neck squamous cell carcinomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study identifies somatostatin receptor 4 (Sstr4) as a critical tumor suppressor against skin and head/neck cancers (HNSCC, cSCC, and BCC). The loss of Sstr4 removes a check on cell growth, causing hyperactivation of the MAPK‐ERK signaling pathway (↑).

Correlation between viral infections in male semen and infertility: a literature review

open access: yesVirology Journal
Infertility affects approximately one-sixth of couples globally, with the incidence of male infertility steadily increasing. However, our understanding of the impact of viral infections on fertility remains limited. This review consolidates findings from

Partial FAK suppression promotes tumor growth, an effect reversed by macrophage p110δ PI3K inactivation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Partial inhibition of focal adhesion kinase (FAK) can paradoxically promote tumor growth, rather than simply producing a weaker antitumor effect than that observed with strong FAK suppression. In breast cancer and melanoma models, targeting p110δ PI3K, particularly in macrophages, counteracted these tumor‐promoting effects, highlighting the importance ...
