Impacts of coal smoke on infant mortality: Evidence from industrializing Japan
The Economic History Review, EarlyView.Abstract This study investigates the health consequences of coal smoke during Japan's early industrialization. Using fixed‐effects models and a prefecture‐level panel dataset on actual coal consumption and infant mortality from 1899 to 1910, this study finds that higher coal consumption was positively associated with infant mortality.

Acinetobacter sichuanensis sp. nov., recovered from hospital sewage in China
International Journal of Systematic and Evolutionary Microbiology, 2018 A novel Acinetobacter strain, WCHAc060041T, was recovered from hospital sewage at West China Hospital in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, China. The strain was Gram-negative coccobacillus, non-spore-forming, non-motile and strictly aerobic. The genomic DNA G+C content was 37.02 mol%.

IOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering, 2020 Abstract The analytical parameters of wastewater gathered from ten stations have been studied by standard methods. The unpleasant odor was observed in all stations, in addition, the pH of the wastewater was measured to be in the range of 6.3-8, meanwhile, the electrical conductivity of the water was in the range of 2030-6450 μscm−1.
