Experimental Models to Study the Role of Microbes in Host-Parasite Interactions
Until recently, parasitic infections have been primarily studied as interactions between the parasite and the host, leaving out crucial players: microbes.

Host-Parasite list of cartilaginous fish
I combined data from three publicly available datasets, namely Shark Reference (https://shark-references.com/) (Pollerspöck & Straube, 2020), World Register of Marine Species (WoRMS) (www.marinespecies.org) (Horton et al., 2019) and the Elasmobranch Host

A Dual‐Functional Electrolyte Additive for Highly Reversible Zinc‐Ion Batteries
This study introduces tetrabutylammonium bromide (TBAB) as a dual‐function additive for aqueous zinc‐ion batteries. TBAB disrupts the hydrogen‐bond network of water while TBA+ adsorbs on Zn to improve interfacial wettability and regulate Zn2+ flux, resulting in suppressed dendrite growth and parasitic reactions. This synergy extended the lifespan of Zn|

Chlamydia trachomatis is a human pathogen associated with significant morbidity worldwide. As obligate intracellular parasites, chlamydiae must survive within eukaryotic cells for sufficient time to complete their developmental cycle.

Host-parasite interactions that guide red blood cell invasion by malaria parasites
Purpose of reviewMalaria is caused by the infection and proliferation of parasites from the genus Plasmodium in red blood cells (RBCs). A free Plasmodium parasite, or merozoite, released from an infected RBC must invade another RBC host cell to sustain a

Role for parasite genetic diversity in differential host responses to Trypanosoma brucei infection
The postgenomic era has revolutionized approaches to defining host-pathogen interactions and the investigation of the influence of genetic variation in either protagonist upon infection outcome.

A dye‐based photoinitiator acting as a structure‐directing element, guides the formation of a cholesteric polymer network that behaves as a chirped photonic structure with dissipative chiral coupling. Photopolymerization freezes a depth‐dependent helical pitch, broadening the Bragg resonance spectrum.

Converging seasonal prevalence dynamics in experimental epidemics [PDF]
Background Regular seasonal changes in prevalence of infectious diseases are often observed in nature, but the mechanisms are rarely understood. Empirical tests aiming at a better understanding of seasonal prevalence patterns are not feasible for most

The repair and regeneration of brain tissue faces both biological and technical challenges. Injectable bioscaffolds offer new opportunities to stimulate tissue regrowth in the brain by recruiting neural stem cells. Here, the translational issues are reviewed that need to be address to advance this promising new therapeutic approach from the bench to ...

An unusual genome architecture characterizes the two related human parasitic pathogens Plasmodium falciparum and Toxoplasma gondii. A major fraction of the bulk parasite genome is packaged as transcriptionally permissive euchromatin with few loci ...
