Three dimensional laser Doppler velocimeter turbulence measurements in a pipe flow [PDF]

open access: yes
The mean and turbulent u, v, and w components of a gaseous fully developed turbulent pipe flow were measured with a laser Doppler velocimeter system. Measurements of important system parameters are presented and discussed in relation to the measurement ...

Flexible, Integrated‐Porous Microneedle Sensor for Biofluid Sampling and On‐Site Biomarker Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A paper‐integrated porous PGA microneedle array patch capable of both high strength and absorption capacity is proposed. With an image‐processing system, an optimized colorimetric sensor achieves a low limit of detection of 0.09 mm in cholesterol.

Study of the structure of turbulent shear flows at supersonic speeds and high Reynolds number [PDF]

open access: yes
A major effort to improve the accuracies of turbulence measurement techniques is described including the development and testing of constant temperature hot-wire anemometers which automatically compensate for frequency responses.

A Review on Microreactor Design for Effective Fischer–Tropsch Process Intensification

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Design strategies for effective Fischer–Tropsch process intensification are summarized based on experimental and simulation experiences. Recommendations for catalyst loading of packed‐bed and wash‐coated microchannel, microtube, micromonolith, and microstructured reactors are discussed.

The flying hot wire and related instrumentation [PDF]

open access: yes
A flying hot-wire technique is proposed for studies of separated turbulent flow in wind tunnels. The technique avoids the problem of signal rectification in regions of high turbulence level by moving the probe rapidly through the flow on the end of a ...

Food‐Based Edible Wireless Sensing Device with Isotropic Electromagnetic Response for Gastrointestinal Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A sensor is fabricated that reflects electromagnetic waves wirelessly using only edible materials. The substrate is made of edible materials such as sugar and starch, and the electrodes are made of gold. This sensor has isotropic electromagnetic wave characteristics in response to rotation.
