Experimental investigation of flow over a backward facing step-progress report [PDF]

open access: yes
The sizes and arrangement of the wind tunnel used for the experimentation are described. The specifications for the cold-wire anemometers, hot-wire anemometers, cold-wire rakes, and miniature 3-wire probe are proveded.

Adhesive Double‐Network Granular Organogel E‐Skin

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
We introduce a double‐network granular organogel adhesive for electronic skin, overcoming adhesion and strength trade‐offs. It provides reversible, robust bonding and ionic conductivity, enabling wearable and soft robotic e‐skin. Thanks to the e‐skin adhesive, a soft robotic trunk can recognize touch, temperature, humidity, and acidity.

Understanding and Circumventing Failure Mechanisms in Chalcogenide Optical Phase Change Material Ge2Sb2Se4Te

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, Volume 13, Issue 8, March 13, 2025.
Chalcogenide optical PCMs have gathered interest for their potential in compact, non‐volatile optics and photonics. Free‐space PCM metasurfaces require new considerations from phase change memory that need to be addressed for reliable scale‐up. Several failure mechanisms pertaining to free‐space PCM devices and layout methods are isolated to prevent ...

Turbulence measurements in a swirling confined jet flowfield using a triple hot-wire probe [PDF]

open access: yes
An axisymmetric swirling confined jet flowfield, similar to that encountered in gas turbine combustors was investigated using a triple hot-wire probe. The raw data from the three sensors were digitized using ADC's and stored on a Tektronix 4051 computer.

Solution‐Processed Spin‐Polarized Light‐Emitting Diodes of Colloidal Quantum Wells and Magnetic Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
All‐solution‐processed spin‐LEDs based on colloidal Fe3O4 nanoparticles and CdSe/CdZnS core/shell CQWs that allows for polarization modulation of electroluminescence are fabricated. With these devices, electrical injection of spin‐polarized carriers from the Fe3O4 nanoparticle layer into the CdSe/CdZnS CQWs is demonstrated, realizing circularly ...

Wind tunnel measurements of three-dimensional wakes of buildings [PDF]

open access: yes
Measurements relevant to the effect of buildings on the low level atmospheric boundary layer are presented. A wind tunnel experiment was undertaken to determine the nature of the flow downstream from a gap between two transversely aligned, equal sized ...

Turbulence modeling in shock wave/turbulent boundary layer interactions [PDF]

open access: yes
The research performed was an experimental program to help develop turbulence models for shock wave boundary layer interactions. The measurements were taken in a Mach 3, 16 deg compression corner interaction, at a unit Reynolds number of 63 x 10(exp 6)/m.
