Board Dynamics over the Startup Life Cycle

ABSTRACT We explore the dynamics of venture capital (VC)‐backed startup boards using novel data on director entry, exit, and characteristics. At formation, a typical board is entrepreneur‐controlled. Independent directors join the median board after the second financing and hold a tie‐breaking vote.

ABSTRACT Drawing on the contemporary taxonomy of the metaphysics of race, this paper shows that Kant's theory of race occupies a distinct metaphysical position on race. Second, it argues that Kant's metaphysics of race inherently produces racist claims.

Description of Flavicapitulum gen. nov. and two new species of Marmoreocelis from thermal habitats in the Americas

Abstract Three novel taxa in the Coleofasciculales were observed in hot springs in Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, United States, and in the Tabaconcito thermal springs on the Rio Tabacón in Costa Rica. Flavicapitulum vaporiphilum gen. et sp. nov. was located in a supported clade with Gracilinea and Marmoreocelis.
