1999Most geothermal reservoirs and hot dry rock (HDR) systems are located in fractured low porosity geological formations. In such settings, fractures provide conduits for fluid flow through such rocks. Therefore fractures, either natural or those artificially created, are important for the successful operation of geothermal reservoirs and HDR systems.
