Abstract Hot dry rock (HDR) is abundant of geothermal energy, without pollution or emissions, thus its mining methods have received extensive attention. Although the predecessors have discussed the law of initiation and propagation of hydraulic cracks comparatively consummate, the sensitivity comparative analysis of parameters (displacement and ...

In situ leach mining and hot dry rock (HDR) geothermal energy technology
Minerals Engineering, 1997Abstract Where an ore deposit is relatively impermeable to fluid flow, some method of artificial enhancement of permeability will be necessary if leach mining is to be employed to recover the metal. Factors influencing recovery of metals in these circumstances are closely matched by the factors encountered in the recovery of geothermal energy by Hot

As the reduction of carbon emissions becomes an increasingly pressing issue, a larger emphasis is being placed on the need for the development of renewable energy. One such option is geothermal energy which utilizes the heat from the earth’s crust; it presents a vast potential for the production of commercial scale base-load power generation.

Heat transfer is the critical process controlling the performance of heat extraction from hot dry rock (HDR) involved in enhanced geothermal systems (EGS). To facilitate the exploitation of EGS, this paper establishes a semi-analytical model for the flow and heat transfer of heat-carrying fluid in a parallel-fractured HDR reservoir.

ABSTRACT Hydraulic fracturing is an important technology for exploiting hot dry rock (HDR) resources. The efficiency of geothermal resource exploitation is affected by the shape of artificial fractures. A thermal–hydraulic‐mechanical (THM) coupling model was established based on the phase field method to study fracture propagation in ...
