Hydrogel Confinement Strategies for 3D Cell Culture in Microfluidic Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, Volume 11, Issue 7, 6 April 2026.
Hydrogel confinement structures are key to organizing 3D cell cultures in microfluidic devices. This review classifies five structural strategies (micropillar, phaseguide, porous membrane, stepped‐height, and support‐free) and examines their trade‐offs alongside fabrication methods.

Manufacturing of embedded multimode waveguides by reactive lamination of cyclic olefin polymer and polymethylmethacrylate [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We demonstrate the manufacturing of embedded multimode optical waveguides through linking of polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) foils and cyclic olefin polymer (COP) filaments based on a lamination process.

Development of a Two‐Stage Cold Pressing and Tempering Process of Graphite Compound Bipolar Plates

open access: yesFuel Cells, Volume 26, Issue 2, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Proton‐exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs) are considered a key technology for decarbonized energy systems, particularly in combination with sustainably sourced green hydrogen. The functional performance and reliability of core components, such as bipolar plates (BPPs), depends critically on the manufacturing processes. This study explores a

Optical analysis of textured plastic substrates to be used in thin silicon solar cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Light confinement strategies in thin-film silicon solar cells play a crucial role in the performance of the devices. In this work, the possible use of Ag-coated stamped polymers as reflectors to be used in n-i-p solar cells is studied.

Process Control in Micro-Embossing: A Review [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
— A promising technique for the large-scale manufacture of micro-fluidic devices and photonic devices is hot embossing of polymers such as PMMA. Micro-embossing is a deformation process where the workpiece material is heated to permit easier material ...
