Numerical Simulation in Forward Hot-extrusion and Back Hot-extrusion Forming Process for Micro-gear

open access: yesDEStech Transactions on Engineering and Technology Research, 2017
The forward hot-extrusion forming process of micro-gear was simulated by FEM. The deformation process was simulated with finite element software—DEFORM was simulated, the metal flow and filling regularity and stress-strain and load feature were obtained, The deformation mechanism of gear micro-forming was disclosed, The results were analyzed through ...

Large‐Area 2D Metasurface‐Based Triboelectric E‐Skin Arrays: Contact & Proximity Tactile Mapping with Broadband Acoustic Readouts

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Metasurface‐engineered NC‐TENG arrays integrate tactile pressure mapping, non‐contact gesture sensing, and acoustic signal readouts in one ultrathin module, and outperforms pristine PDMS in terms of electrical output and real‐time spatial mapping for next‐gen wearables.

Processing peracetic acid treated bloodmeal into bioplastic [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Renewable and biodegradable bioplastics can be produced from biopolymers such as proteins. Animal blood is a by-product from meat processing and is rich in protein. It is dried into low value bloodmeal and is used as animal feed or fertiliser.

Melt-extruded polyethylene oxide (PEO) rods as drug delivery vehicles: Formulation, performance as controlled release devices and the influence of co-extruded excipients on drug release profiles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The utility of controlled release medication formulations lies in their ability to keep drugs at steady levels in the blood plasma of recipients and within the termini of the maximum and minimum effective therapeutic levels.

Mechanically Tunable Mechanochromic Device with Covert‐Overt Structural Color and Modulation of its Transparency

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This study presents a novel mechanically responsive optical device that modulates light transmission and generates iridescent structural colors under reflection. The optical transition arises from the exposure of nanoparticles upon stretching, which are initially embedded beneath the surface.
