Biomass DNA: An Emerging Building Block for Advanced Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Biomass DNA is rapidly emerging from its traditional role as a genetic blueprint to serve as a versatile abundant, highly programmable polymeric building block. This review highlights the transformation of macroscopic bulk biomass DNA into next generation of functional materials, spanning from dynamic hydrogels, sustainable bioplastics, and high ...

Effects of (2R,6R)-hydroxynorketamine in assays of acute pain-stimulated and pain-depressed behaviors in mice.

open access: yesPLoS ONE
Ketamine has been shown to produce analgesia in various acute and chronic pain states; however, abuse liability concerns have limited its utility. The ketamine metabolite (2R,6R)-hydroxynorketamine (HNK) has been shown to produce antidepressant-like ...

Over 95% Optical Reflectance From Structurally Modulated All‐Biopolymer Multilayers

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A new dense–porous design turns ordinary polysaccharides into highly reflective photonic multilayers. Alternating dense pectin and porous cellulose nanofiber layers create strong refractive‐index contrast without inorganic or synthetic polymers, enabling nearly perfect visible reflection, high near‐infrared reflection, broadband metallic‐like colors ...

A Retinal Matrix Stiffening Model Reveals FAK‐Dependent Mechanotransduction in Pericytes Underlies Vascular Destabilization

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, we show that retinal matrix stiffness is increased in diabetic mice. Using engineered human vascular models with controlled matrix stiffness, we demonstrate that stiffening activates focal adhesion kinase (FAK) signaling in pericytes, suppresses Notch signaling, and disrupts vascular morphology.

Ferroionic‐Assisted, Charge‐Driven Polymorphic Phase Engineering for Multilevel Memristive Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A CuInP2S6/Mo0.92W0.08Te2 heterostructure enables a gradual semiconductor‐to‐semimetal phase transition through Cu+ ion migration and charge accumulation. The spatially engineered 2H/1T′ mixed phases produce continuously tunable conductance states in a two‐terminal geometry, while suppressing depolarizing fields and stabilizing the metastable 1T′ phase.

Low Resistance Interphase Formation at the PEO‐LiTFSI|LGPS Interface in Lithium Solid‐State Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Interfacial charge transfer and low‐resistance interphase formation between PEO‐based polymer and Li10GeP2S12 solid electrolytes are investigated using multi‐electrode impedance spectroscopy and advanced analytical techniques such as XPS and ToF‐SIMS.

Binder‐Free Direct Ink Writing of Li6.4La3Zr1.4Ta0.6O12 Garnet Electrolytes for All‐Solid‐State Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Polymer binders and thick pressed LLZTO pellets limit all‐solid‐state battery integration through grain‐boundary carbon and high ohmic losses. A binder‐free capillary suspension ink is direct‐ink‐written and sintered into 254 μm$\mu{\rm m}$, 95.8%‐dense Ta‐stabilized LLZTO with 17.3 mS cm−1$\text{cm}^{-1}$ bulk conductivity, enabling thinner ...

Ionic Liquid (IL) Compatibilization of Macropore‐Infused Nanocomposite Emulsion Thermosets (MINETs) for Structural Ion Transport

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Macropore‐infused nanocomposite emulsion thermosets (MINETs) offer tunable multifunctionality due to their incorporation of structural resin, functional nanoparticles, and working fluid stabilized by surfactant. Here we show that if ionic liquid working fluids are introduced, structural capacitive (conductive particles) or separator (insulating ...
