Safe Touch Temperatures for Hot Plates

Journal of Biomechanical Engineering, 1998
A finite difference heat transfer model has been developed to predict the Safe Touch Temperatures (STT) for plates made of different materials. SST can be defined as the highest temperature at which no pain is felt when the surface is touched for a long enough period to allow safe handling of the equipment. The criterion used to quantify damage is the “

At meals served on a hot plate

Nursing Standard, 1987
Meal-Mate, available from Stanbridge Ltd, is a tray with a built-in hotplate for fitting to wheelchairs or ordinary chairs. The tray keeps food at a palatable temperature for an extended period, the manufacturers say, meaning the user does not have to rush a meal before it goes cold.

Structure of the Rat's Behaviour in the Hot Plate Test

Behavioural Brain Research, 1993
The objectives of the study were: (i) to elaborate an ethogram of the rat's behaviour during the hot plate test, (ii) to analyse the rat's responses to the nociceptive heat stimulus by using ethological techniques, and (iii) to discern the suitable pattern or patterns to evaluate the rat's reaction to the noxious stimulus.

NGF Effects on Hot Plate Behaviors in Mice

Pharmacology Biochemistry and Behavior, 1994
Adult CD-1 male mice were injected intravenously with 2.5 micrograms/g of highly purified murine NGF and then assessed for hot plate responding (52 degrees C) at 15, 30, 60, 180, and 360 min (repeated test) or at 30, 60, or 360 min (single test, i.e., exposure to hot plate only once). Control animals received cytochrome c (2.5 micrograms/g).
