Microstructural analysis of hot press formed 22MnB5 steel
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2017This paper presents a microstructural study on hot press formed 22MnB5 steel for enhanced mechanical properties. Hot press forming process consists of simultaneous forming and quenching of heated blank. The 22MnB5 steel was processed at three different parameter settings: quenching time, water temperature and water flow rate. 22MnB5 was processed using

Corrosion behavior of Al-Si-Mg coated hot-press-forming steel
Corrosion Science, 2021Abstract This study introduces enhanced corrosion performance of the Al-Si-Mg coated 22MnB5 boron steel. Structural changes of the coating after hot-dip-aluminizing and hot-press-forming processes with the presence of Mg included compacter surface with Mg segregation and thicker crack-free layer.

Aluminide Coating Formation on Hot Press Forming Steels
Materials Science Forum, 2010In the present work, the formation of an aluminide coating prior to Hot Press Forming (HPF) was investigated. It was found that the formation of Fe3Al phases could suppress coating degradation during the HPF process. This new method was studied as a way to simultaneously improve the coating ductility and achieve a good hot corrosion resistance. In this

Development of Hot Press Machine for Superplastic Forming Technology
Advanced Materials Research, 2011In most superplastic forming process, one or more sheets of superplastic grade materials are heated and forced onto or into single surface tools by gas pressure. Since the assembly includes only clamping dies, temperature chamber and regulated gas pressure to provide forming force, the assembly is easy to use for aircraft components. However, it is not

Morphology of Iron-Zinc Coating for Hot Press Forming Steel
Materials Science Forum, 2016The coating morphology of a hot press forming steel galvanealed by HDPS (hot dipping process simulator) in laboratory was studied in the paper. The results show that, firstly from thermodynamic calculations, the intermetallics increased the melting point of Zn, and it is possible to avoid the melting and volatilization of zinc coating for hot press ...

Thermo-Mechanical Coupled Analysis of Hot Press Forming with 22MnB5 Steel
International Journal of Automotive Technology, 2019This paper mainly concerns the thermo-mechanical analysis to evaluate the process parameters in the hot press forming with the 22MnB5 sheet such as the austenitization temperature, transport and quenching time for enhancing the efficiency in the production cycle. It is noted that the transport time is most influencing process parameter in the hot press

TiAl composites formed from elemental powders by hot-isostatic pressing processing
Journal of Materials Science Letters, 1993Recently several studies have produced intermetallics and intermetallic composites from elemental powders using self-propagating, high-temperature synthesis (SHS) [1-3]. Of particular interest has been the formation of titanium aluminides [4]. It has been observed that by preheating a Ti and A1 powder mixture, by increasing the sintering time or by ...

Composites based on aluminum and boron nitrides formed during hot pressing
Powder Metallurgy and Metal Ceramics, 2009The paper examines how MoSi2, ZrO2, and SiO2 additions influence the phase formation and properties of hot-pressed AlN–BN (АBN) composites. It is established that new hardening phases are synthesized in the hot pressing of composite materials. The developed composites have higher strength than sintered ABN and retain oxidation resistance, excellent ...
