Effects of Carbon Nanoparticles on Triboelectro‐Induced Surface Defects

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Carbon nanoparticles added to grease modify the electrocontact behavior. The synergy of particle concentration and electric current dominates the surface damage of metals in contact. Electrical surface damage caused by current leakage is a critical challenge in high‐performance applications such as electric vehicle (EV) drivetrains and wind turbine ...

Simulation and Experiment of Manufacturing Process for Structural Aluminum Parts with Hard to Plastic Forming

open access: yesMetals, 2019
A process comprising a hot extrusion process and a warm forging process was designed to form an umbrella-shaped aluminum structural component with a high degree of difficulty for the plastic forming method. A circular cylindrical part was extruded with a

Interactions between Molten High‐Silicon Electrical Steels and Carbon‐Bonded MgO Refractories Based on Recyclates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines how several molten high‐silicon electrical steels interact with both conventional and recycled MgO–C refractories. For this, various immersion experiments are conducted. In addition to infiltration, a number of mechanisms are identified and explained that control the corrosion of the refractory material.

Multimodal Mechanical Testing of Additively Manufactured Ti6Al4V Lattice Structures: Compression, Bending, and Fatigue

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
In this experimental study, the mechanical properties of additively manufactured Ti‐6Al‐4V lattice structures of different geometries are characterized using compression, four point bending and fatigue testing. While TPMS designs show superior fatigue resistance, SplitP and Honeycomb lattice structures combine high stiffness and strength. The resulting

Manufacturing Continuous Fiber‐Reinforced Printing Filaments: Development of a Post‐Consolidation Unit

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A novel, temperature‐controlled post‐consolidation unit is developed to test its potential to improve the melt impregnation process used to manufacture continuous fiber‐reinforced filaments for additive manufacturing of high‐performance thermoplastics.

Investigation on Mechanical Properties and Oxidation Behavior of 1.2 and 1.7 GPa Grades Coating-Free Press-Hardened Steels

open access: yesMetals, 2023
Al-Si-coated boron-alloyed steels are the most widely used press-hardened steels (PHSs), which offers good oxidation resistance during hot forming due to the presence of the near eutectic Al-Si coating. In this study, a recently developed novel un-coated

Unidirectional Tape‐Based Composites from Hemp and Pineapple Leaf Fiber: Mechanical Performance in Conventional and Bio‐Based Matrices

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The study investigates novel semi‐finished products made of unidirectionally arranged hemp or pineapple leaf fiber‐reinforced composites produced from different matrices. The materials are analyzed in terms of their mechanical and interfacial properties and void content.

Microstructure and mechanical properties of laser welded hot-press-formed steel with varying thicknesses of Al–Si coatings cleaned by nanosecond pulsed laser

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2023
The Al–Si coatings are commonly used for hot-press-forming (HPF) steel to prevent oxidation in the automobile industry. However, due to the presence of Al–Si coating, undesirable intermetallic compounds are easily formed in the welds of HPF steel.

Mechanism Study of Ultrasonic Vibration-Assisted Microgroove Forming of Precise Hot-Pressed Optical Glass

open access: yesMicromachines, 2023
Microgroove structures with helical pitches in a wavelength level are increasingly required in optical areas. However, conventional manufacturing techniques generate relatively high stresses during pressing, resulting in poor precision when forming microgrooves.

Interaction between Molten Al‐Killed Mn–B Steel and Carbon‐Bonded MgO Refractories Based on Recyclates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
High‐temperature interactions between low‐sulfur Al‐killed Mn–B steel and MgO–C refractories (0 and 50 wt% recyclates) are studied via finger immersion tests (1600 °C). Surface‐active elements influence infiltration. MgO/CaS layer forms, along with spinel and calcium silicate.
