Improving maritime domain awareness using vessel location data in Bering Sea fisheries

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science
Maritime Domain Awareness increasingly depends on publicly available vessel tracking data to support commercial fisheries oversight, but it remains unclear how closely publicly available AIS-derived products approximate the restricted Vessel Monitoring ...

External and Internal Cracking Caused by Heat Treatment in Laser Powder Bed Fusion‐Fabricated Inconel 738LC Components

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Manufacturing problems such as heat treatment‐induced cracking hinder the widespread application of the laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) process to superalloys. In this study, cracks in the LPBF components of Inconel 738LC superalloy are characterized after heat treatment at various temperature ranges, revealing two distinct cracking behaviors.

Impact of MgO Additions on the Oxidation Resistance and Compression Behavior of Vanadium Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An increase in oxidation resistance at 600 °C is achieved for alloys containing more than 2.5 wt.% MgO. It has been established that, along with V2O5, MgO6V2, and Mg2O7V2 are formed, which are presumed to enhance oxidative stability. Furthermore, the possible transformation of Mg‐vanadates through reaction with CO2, which presumably occurs in this ...

Analysis of some heavy metals in foodstuffs contaminated with pesticides using a developed spot-test method

open access: yesAfrican Scientific Reports
The need for food security is a call for a simple and quick spot-test that can be used for the detection of contaminated grains and foodstuffs. Mostly, stored grain foodstuffs contained heavy metals due to metallic pesticides applied against pest ...

Multilayer Self‐Limiting Electrospray Deposition via Stepped Voltage Bias

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Self‐limiting electrospray deposition (SLED) uses a high voltage to generate and deposit a charged payload on a target surface. The coating retains its charge, repelling newly arriving material. SLED thickness can be decreased by applying a secondary bias to the target.

The Influence of Field‐Assisted Sintering Technology (FAST) Temperature and Cooling Rate on the Microstructural Evolution in Gamma‐Titanium Aluminide Alloy GE4822

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Controlling the Field Assisted Sintering Technology (FAST) parameters, dwell temperature and cooling rate, significantly influences the microstructural evolution in titanium aluminide GE4822. Significant γ‐lamellar colonies develop only upon cooling through the α‐transus.

Microstructure Modification of Additively Manufactured Mo–9Si–8B by Annealing and Its Effects on High‐Temperature Mechanical Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Postbuild annealing systematically modifies the phase fractions and morphology of EB‐PBF processed Mo–9Si–8B. Quantitative microstructure–property correlations reveal how controlled phase evolution enhances high‐temperature compressive strength and creep resistance.

Cold Spot SCANNER: Colab Notebook for predicting cold spots in protein–protein interfaces

open access: yesBMC Bioinformatics
Background Protein–protein interactions (PPIs) are conveyed through binding interfaces or surface patches on proteins that become buried upon binding. Structural and biophysical analysis of many protein–protein interfaces revealed certain unique features
