Minimizing Hot Spot Temperature in Asymmetric Gradient Coil Design

Heating caused by gradient coils is a considerable concern in the operation of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanners. Hot spots can occur in regions where the gradient coil windings are closely spaced. These problem areas are particularly common in the design of gradient coils with asymmetrically located target regions.

The influence of liquid temperature on the sonoluminescence hot spot

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1998
An explanation is provided for the influence of relatively small changes in liquid temperature on the hot spot within a sonoluminescence bubble. This influence derives from a change in the (stable) equilibrium mass of the bubble due to a variation of the gas solubility in the liquid with temperature.
