SPICE simulation of ferrite core losses and hot spot temperature estimation

A simple, user-friendly model is proposed to estimate ferrite core losses and the hot spot temperature by SPICE simulation that are based on the Steinmetz equation. The model is capable to produce, on the fly, the estimates as the operating condition of the core are changing.

In inertial confinement fusion experiments, hot spot mix caused by hydrodynamic instabilities is a critical performance limitation. Currently, multi-channel Ross filter pair imaging is used to quantitatively diagnose the mix mass of cryogenic hot spots driven by 100 kJ energy, but this method brings significant uncertainty.
