Yellowstone Hot Springs are Organic Chemodiversity Hot Spots [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2018
AbstractYellowstone National Park hydrothermal springs were investigated according to their organic geochemistry with a special focus on the Yellowstone hot spring dissolved organic matter (YDOM) that was solid-phase extracted. Here we show that YDOM has a unique chemodiversity that has not yet been observed anywhere else in aquatic surface ...

Vestibular Patient Journey: Insights From Vestibular Disorders Association (VeDA) Registry

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Vestibular symptoms impose a high burden of disability. Understanding real‐world diagnostic and treatment pathways can identify care gaps and guide interventions. We aimed to characterize symptom profiles, diagnostic trends, provider involvement, and treatment patterns in vestibular disorders.

Heat Flow Density in a region with Hot Springs- NW of Portugal and SW of Galicia (Spain) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Heat flow density and temperature are studied in a region characterized by a very marked topography and the existence of thermal springs. The work was made with results obtained in studies involving heat sources in the region due to the decay of ...

A biophysical model of prokaryotic diversity in geothermal hot springs

open access: yes, 2008
Recent field investigations of photosynthetic bacteria living in geothermal hot spring environments have revealed surprisingly complex ecosystems, with an unexpected level of genetic diversity.

Epidemiological research of radioactive springs (Misasa Hot Springs) on circulatory systems. II. Incidences of abnormal ECG findings and hypertension (A preliminary report) [PDF]

open access: yes, 1966
Misasa Hot Springs water contains 4.81-1169.2×10(-10) curie per liter of radon and its temperature ranges from 53.0℃ to 76.0℃. The authors examined one group of 265 residents who are living over 1 year at Misasa Hot Springs and another control group of ...

Harnessing Fungal Biowelding for Constructing Mycelium‐Engineered Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Mycelium‐bound composites (MBCs) offer low‐carbon alternatives for construction, yet interfacial bonding remains a critical challenge. This review examines fungal biowelding as a biocompatible adhesive, elucidating mycelium‐mediated interfacial mechanisms and their role in material assembly. Strategies to optimize biowelding are discussed, highlighting

Electrochemical Evaluation of Compressed Selective Laser Melted AlSi7Mg and AlSi10Mg Alloys in Chloride Environment

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The corrosion performance of AlSi7Mg and AlSi10Mg alloys produced through selective laser melting (SLM) was examined under compressive stress in a chloride environment. Electrochemical analyses, including open‐circuit potential (OCP), potentiodynamic polarization (CPP), and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), were complemented by scanning ...

The Hot Spring Water System in Beppu in view of Two Chemical Elements [PDF]

open access: yes, 1951
Of all hot springs in Beppu, temperature and Cl', HCO3' contents were measured in summer 1950, from which their new distributions are obtained and compared with those of the past. There are found the rations HCO3/Cl and (Temp. -16)/Cl of each hot springs

THE RADIO-ACTIVITY OF THE MINERAL WATERS OF HOT SPRINGS, WARM SPRINGS AND HEALING SPRINGS IN HOT SPRINGS, VA. [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Internal Medicine, 1915
The study of radium and radio-activity long ago became a subject of great interest, not only for the pure scientist, but also for the physician and his patients. The search for radium-containing ores in this country, while it has been successful in demonstrating the wealth contained in the earth, has also evidenced the great scarcity of this metal.

Interaction between Molten Al‐Killed Mn–B Steel and Carbon‐Bonded MgO Refractories Based on Recyclates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
High‐temperature interactions between low‐sulfur Al‐killed Mn–B steel and MgO–C refractories (0 and 50 wt% recyclates) are studied via finger immersion tests (1600 °C). Surface‐active elements influence infiltration. MgO/CaS layer forms, along with spinel and calcium silicate.
