Hot-worked microstructure and hot workability of cold-work tool steels

Abstract The hot workability of two cold-work tool steels were evaluated and compared. A D2 and an advanced alloy based on 8% Cr steels (TDx) were deformed at high temperatures between 900 and 1100 °C with strain rates 0.001–10 s− 1 via hot compression test.

Determination of Hot Workability of 5Cr5MoSiV1 Steel Based on Hot Processing Map

The evaluation of the hot workability of 5Cr5MoSiV1 steel with high deformation resistance is crucial for the controllability of the hot forging process. Based on the isothermal compression at deformation temperature of 950–1200 °C and strain rate of 0.01–10 s−1, the flow behavior of 5Cr5MoSiV1 steel is demonstrated.
