Welding Hot Work Habitats

Proceedings of SPE Health, Safety and Environment in Oil and Gas Exploration and Production Conference, 1994
Abstract The 14 well Maui A (MPA) production platform supplies some 90% of New Zealand's gas and consequently any shut down is limited to only 10 hours by virtue of line pack. In 1990 further field development called for the installation of the Maui B platform producing through a multiphase pipeline to separation facilities on MPA.

Fire prevention during hot work

Welding in the World, 2015
This document addresses provisions to prevent loss of life and property from fire or explosions as a result of hot work and provides guidance for property owners and managers, supervisors, employees, and contractors who manage, supervise, and perform hot work. It does not address the health effects of working in high-temperature environments.

W. W. HOT WORK

Alloy Digest, 1984
Abstract W.W. HOT WORK is a chromium-tungsten hot-work tool and die steel containing nominally 1.05% vanadium. It is characterized by high strength and hardness at elevated temperature and good resistance to heat checking. It has high hardenability and can be hardened by quenching in salt or oil.

Electrical hot work safety program

IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 1988
An internal review of the safety practices for a large Canadian chemical plant indicated that the established procedures for electrical hot work needed to be expanded and formalized. The practices were expanded into a comprehensive electrical hot work program that included the philosophy, control, qualification, and safe work methods.

Hot Working Simulation by Hot Torsion Testing

2005
Abstract This article summarizes the types of hot working simulation tests such as hot tension, compression, and torsion testing used in the assessment of workability. It illustrates the use of hot torsion testing for the optimization of hot working processes.

Deformation mechanisms in hot working

JOM, 1968
1. During deformation at a constant temperature above 0.5Tm, there is a steady-state regime where both stress and strain rate remain constant independent of strain. 2. The interdependence of stress, strain rate and temperature during steady-state hot working and secondary creep are similar. 3.
