A Two-Dimensional Infrared Map of the Extrasolar Planet HD 189733b
We derive the first secondary eclipse map of an exoplanet, HD 189733b, based on Spitzer IRAC 8 micron data. We develop two complementary techniques for deriving the two dimensional planet intensity: regularized slice mapping and spherical harmonic ...

We show that the majority of the 18 analyzed recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming. The most potent mutations are activating, co‐operate with other ERBB receptors, and are sensitive to pan‐ERBB inhibitors. Activating ERBB4 mutations also promote therapy resistance in EGFR‐mutant lung cancer.

Background APOBEC-driven mutagenesis and functional positive selection of mutated genes may synergistically drive the higher frequency of some hotspot driver mutations compared to other mutations within the same gene, as we reported for FGFR3 S249C. Only

Pathogenic Neurofibromatosis type 1 gene variants in tumors of non‐NF1 patients and role of R1276
Somatic variants of the neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) gene occur across neoplasms without clinical manifestation of the disease NF1. We identified emerging somatic pathogenic NF1 variants and hotspots, for example, at the arginine finger 1276. Those missense variants provide fundamental information about neurofibromin's role in cancer.

Automated Analysis of Wildlife-Vehicle Conflict Hotspots Using Carcass and Collision Data [PDF]
Wildlife-vehicle conflict (WVC) occurs when traffic coincides with a place where animals decide to cross the surface of a roadway. State departments of transportation have a consistent need to understand rates and locations of WVC but inconsistent access

Nuclear pore links Fob1‐dependent rDNA damage relocation to lifespan control
Damaged rDNA accumulates at a specific perinuclear interface that couples nucleolar escape with nuclear envelope association. Nuclear pores at this site help inhibit Fob1‐induced rDNA instability. This spatial organization of damage handling supports a functional link between nuclear architecture, rDNA stability, and replicative lifespan in yeast.

The effect of fear of crime on public space use: The case of Rüsumat [PDF]
The growing populations of today’s cities, as well as the increase in alienation amongst their inhabitants, raises the perception of crime. People’s desire for communal areas such as public spaces is reduced when they feel unsafe in urban places.
