Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

Evaluation of common defects of grouted sleeve connectors

open access: yesCase Studies in Construction Materials, 2022
Grouted sleeve connectors have been widely used in vertical connections of prefabricated reinforced concrete structures. However, the quality of grouted sleeve connections are likely affected by adverse factors during winter construction such as grouting

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

The Feasibility of Using Marble Cutting Waste in a Sustainable Building Clay Industry

open access: yesRecycling, 2018
This study evaluates the feasibility of stabilizing clay bricks with marble cutting waste (MCW). This waste is currently discarded in huge quantities as sludge resulting from the sawing of marble blocks to slabs and the processes of disposing of grinding

EFFICIENCY OF TABLE EGG PRODUCTION IN DIFFERENT HOUSING SYSTEMS AND FARM SIZES: A CASE STUDY BASED ON THREE HUNGARIAN FARMS [PDF]

open access: yesAnnals of the Polish Association of Agricultural and Agribusiness Economists, 2019
In the European Union, alternative housing systems (aviary, barn, free-range, organic) are increasingly used in laying hen populations (49.6%). Hungary is one of the member states where modified cage housing technology is prevalent, but this may change ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.
