HRTEM and EELS investigations of flame-formed soot nanostructure

Fuel, 2018
High resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) and electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS) were applied to soot probed along a premixed methane flame from the inception phase up to the burnout region in order to follow the transformations of soot nanostructures.

HRTEM observation of the Si/SiO2 interface

Applied Surface Science, 1990
Abstract Interfaces with crystalline Si (c-Si) and dry oxide grown over the c-Si have been observed using high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM). The lattice image of c-Si near the interface varies depending on the specimen thickness.

Observations at the mica-vermiculite interface with HRTEM

Colloid & Polymer Science, 1988
Particle size fractions of biotite (0.5–2; 2–5; 5–20; 20–50 μ) were gradually transformed to vermiculite by exchanging the interlayer potassium with barium. In a subsequent exchange procedure, interlayer barium was removed by n-alkylammonium ions in order to preserve the expanded structure under the conditions in the electron microscope. Ultramicrotome

Hrtem Investigation of Nanocrystalline Materials

2006
The microstructural and structural investigation performed on nanocrystalline (NC) materials will be reported using TEM, SAED, EDS, HRTEM and XRD measurements. The aim of this investigation was to characterize ZrO2 and ZrO2-Y2O3 NC materials prepared by ball-milling.

HRTEM microstructures of PAN precursor fibers

Carbon, 2006
Ultrathin sections prepared from both transverse and longitudinal PAN precursor fibers were examined by high-resolution transmission electron microscopy. Ordered and amorphous phases coexist in these sections, providing verification for the two-phase structure of PAN fibers, however, onion-like spheres and crystallites predominate in the transverse ...

Structure Solution Using HRTEM

2012
Electron microscopy is the only method known today that allows us to directly see the atoms in a sample. Compared to X-ray crystallography, crystals billions of times smaller can be studied by electron crystallography. The fundamental difference between (electron microscopy) images and diffraction patterns is explained.

Where are the limits to spatial resolution in the HRTEM?

Proceedings, annual meeting, Electron Microscopy Society of America, 1995
In discussing resolution limits, it is important to distinguish between the resolution of a microscope and the resolutions of the images produced by the microscope. The spatial resolution of a high-resolution transmission electron microscope (HRTEM) is an upper bound on the resolution of images that can be produced by that microscope, but there is no ...

Demonstration of CC/CS-correction in HRTEM

2009
The next major step in transmission electron microscopy (TEM) towards improved resolution and usability is the correction of the axial chromatic aberration CC. Our quadrupole-octupole-type CC/CS-corrector consists of ten quadrupole stages. Two of them produce crossed electric/magnetic quadrupole fields for CC-correction and octupole fields for CS ...

HRTEM Investigation of Nanocrystalline Materials

2004
The microstructural and structural investigation performed on NC-materials will be reported using TEM, SAED, EDS, HRTEM and XRD. The aim of this investigation was to characterize NC-materials prepared by ball-milling, sol-gel procedure and rapid quenching.

EELS AND HRTEM OF ETHYLENE SOOT

2018
Soot nanostructure was analyzed in fuel-rich premixed laminar C2H4/O2 flames at a constant C/O ratio of 0.8 and different maximum temperatures, namely 1620K and 1690K, obtained using different cold gas velocity. Bulk properties of soot as H/C ratio and reactivity were investigated, along with morphological, nanostructural and chemical features (using ...
