Improved HRV characterization using OCDWT

2009 Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 2009
In this paper an over-complete discrete wavelet transform (OCDWT) algorithm, obtained by blending two wavelet transform implementations that is redundant wavelet transform and the Mallat's multiresolution decomposition, has been proposed to retrieve the time-varying characteristics of HRV under two different postures, supine and standing.

Comparison of HRV analysis methods during Orthostatic Challenge: HRV with respiration or without?

2007 29th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 2007
Heart Rate Variability (HRV) analysis has become an important tool in assessing human Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) activity in recent years. Orthostatic challenge is one of the most common tests to detect ANS dysfunction. In this study we looked at the changes in ANS activity of normal subjects to orthostatic challenge and compared the results of 3 ...

Endurance Performance and Nocturnal HRV Indices

International Journal of Sports Medicine, 2009
The effects of endurance training on endurance performance characteristics and cardiac autonomic modulation during night sleep were investigated. Twenty-four sedentary subjects trained over four weeks two hours per week at an average running intensity of 76+/-4% of their heart rate reserve.

Activity-aware HRV analysis

2011 IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics, 2011
Heart Rate Variability (HRV) is proven to be related to critical cardiovascular diseases. However, HRV is related to other factors as well, among which the activity is the major one. A novel activity-aware HRV analysis method is proposed to improve its performance on daily life ECG data.

Sample entropy-based HRV characterisation

International Journal of Medical Engineering and Informatics, 2012
The non-linear methods-based heart rate variability analyses are widely becoming popular as these are based upon analysing original RR-interval series. The sample entropy (SampEn) is one of these methods used for quantifying signal complexity, and is based upon hypothesis that decreasing entropy is a pointer towards loss of heart rate variability (HRV).

Monitoring Driving Stress using HRV

2019 11th International Conference on Communication Systems & Networks (COMSNETS), 2019
Driving stress is responsible for bad driving behavior and fatal accidents. This stress initiates from road factors and keeps negative consequences in overall traffic management as well as in transportation system. Bangladesh has poor road infrastructure, environment and management. We explore to know the Bangladeshi drivers stress level through HRV by

HRV-Recovery-FPCA

Heart rate variability (HRV) dynamics following training sessions provide insight into the balance between physiological stress and recovery. Traditional approaches often reduce HRV to scalar summaries, overlooking the information contained in the full recovery trajectory.

Wavelet Based HRV Analysis

2014
Filtering time series is an important task in many domains as biomedical signal processing. The Heart Rate Variability (HRV) is the analysis of the RR time series obtained as intervals between heart beats. Usually the RR time series obtained are non-stationary and are present ectopic beats, which prevents extraction of useful information, therefore ...
