Elevated ASGR1 as a Potential Diagnostic Biomarker for Coronary Artery Disease and Predictor of Adverse Outcomes in Hypertensive Patients

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 40, Issue 9, 15 May 2026.
Asialoglycoprotein receptor 1 (ASGR1) is linked to lipid metabolism and CAD, but its role in hypertensive CAD patients is unclear. This single‐center study included 345 hypertensive patients (59 non‐CAD, 286 CAD). Plasma ASGR1 was higher in CAD patients, correlated with multiple markers and HDL‐C, had high diagnostic value (better than traditional ...

Electrochemically Engineered PEDOT:PSS/MXene Composite Electrode for the Label‐Free Procalcitonin Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, Volume 13, Issue 10, 19 May 2026.
Procalcitonin is a key biomarker for bacterial infections, but conventional detection methods are often time‐consuming. Here, we present an electrochemical sensor based on highly conductive Ti3C2Tx MXene combined with PEDOT:PSS, enabling direct antibody immobilization, while a bovine serum albumin coating provides antifouling protection.

Noninvasive Promotion of Neuronal Differentiation in Human Neural Progenitor Cells Using Terahertz Wave Illumination

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, Volume 7, Issue 5, May 2026.
Terahertz (THz) waves provide a nonionizing and noninvasive approach to regulate neuronal differentiation by resonantly interacting with biomolecular vibrational modes. THz irradiation regulates gene expression and intracellular signaling pathways, enhancing neuronal marker expression and promoting neurite outgrowth. This biophysical modulation enables

Psoas Muscle Volume as a Predictor of Postoperative Complications in Patients Undergoing Emergency Surgery for Strangulated Small Bowel Obstruction: A Retrospective Single‐Center Study

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, Volume 10, Issue 3, Page 893-903, May 2026.
This retrospective study identified low preoperative psoas muscle volume, measured by computed tomography, as an independent predictor of postoperative complications in patients undergoing emergency surgery for strangulated small bowel obstruction. Low psoas muscle volume, particularly in older adults, was associated with cardiopulmonary and systemic ...
