Volatile profile of Atlantic shellfish by HS-SPME GC/MS
A procedure based on headspace solid-phase microextraction (HS-SPME) and GC–MS analysis was developed to investigate the volatile organic compounds (VOCs) of Atlantic shellfish species. The experimental conditions (fiber coating, sample volume, time and temperature of incubation) were optimized for the extraction of VOCs from shellfish.

Composition of antifungal volatile organic compounds in Sextonia rubra fruit by molecular networks
Sextonia rubra is a tropical tree exploited for its durable wood. Hydrodistillation of its fruit was performed for the first time and the resulting hydrolate was analyzed by headspace-solid phase microextraction-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (HS ...

HS-SPME-GC-MS analysis of Cyprus vineyard soil for VOCs determination
In line with green chemistry principles, a headspace solid-phase microextraction gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (HS-SPME-GC-MS) method was developed and optimized to study the profile of biogenic volatile organic compounds (BVOCs) in soil samples from vineyards. The 75 µm CAR/PDMS fiber was selected for the identification of BVOCs in soil.

Identification of Volatile Organic Compounds Produced by Bacteria Using HS-SPME-GC–MS [PDF]
The analysis of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) as a tool for bacterial identification is reported. Headspace solid-phase microextraction (HS-SPME) coupled to gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) was applied to the analysis of bacterial VOCs with the aim of determining the impact of experimental parameters on the generated VOC profiles.

Quantification of Polyfunctional Thiols in Wine by HS-SPME-GC-MS Following Extractive Alkylation [PDF]
Analyses of key odorous polyfunctional volatile thiols in wines (3-mercaptohexanol (3-MH), 3-mercaptohexylacetate (3-MHA), and 4-mercapto-4-methyl-2-pentanone (4-MMP)) are challenging due to their high reactivity and ultra-trace concentrations, especially when using conventional gas-chromatography electron impact mass spectrometry (GC-EI-MS).
