Modular Tunable α‐Helical Peptide Hydrogels for Neuronal Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 35, Issue 1, January 2, 2025.
Rationally designed peptides are used to alter the elastic properties of α‐helical hydrogels, to introduce adhesion peptides and growth factors, and to spatially pattern proteins. The modularity of the hydrogelating self‐assembling fiber (hSAF) system provides a flexible platform for manipulating primary neural cell behavior, with potential future ...

Hallmarks of Human Small Antral Follicle Development: Implications for Regulation of Ovarian Steroidogenesis and Selection of the Dominant Follicle

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology, 2018
Regulation of human ovarian steroidogenesis differs from other species and precise knowledge on how human small antral follicles (hSAF) develop and acquire competence for continued growth and steroid output is still incomplete.

Doing dams better? A case study of a proposed pumped hydro scheme at Lake Onslow, Central Otago

open access: yesNew Zealand Geographer, Volume 80, Issue 3, Page 220-232, December 2024.
Abstract Water resource managers and Geographers share common interests in meeting Sustainable Development Goal Seven (universal access to affordable energy) and addressing climate change. Hydropower plays a key role but dams have environmental, social and cultural consequences.

Robust gradient‐based neural networks for solving online the discrete periodic Lyapunov matrix equations

open access: yesIET Control Theory &Applications, Volume 18, Issue 1, Page 71-82, January 2024.
Here, a gradient‐based neural network (GNN) model is constructed for solving the discrete periodic Lyapunov matrix equation associated with discrete‐time linear periodic systems. A novel type of non‐linear activation function is applied to the GNN model, which makes the GNN model to achieve better convergence and robustness.

Sustainability assessment of Thailand's electricity planning: Using section 1 of the 2009 hydropower sustainability assessment protocol [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We conducted a rapid assessment of the sustainability performance of the Thai power development plan and a number of related planning processes, focusing on the Thai plan’s implications for development of hydropower in the Mekong region.

The magnetic susceptibility on the transverse antiferromagnetic Ising model: Analysis of the reentrant behaviour

open access: yes, 2016
We study the three-dimensional antiferromagnetic Ising model in both uniform longitudinal ($H$) and transverse ($\Omega $) magnetic fields by using the effective-field theory with finite cluster $N=1$ spin (EFT-1).

Simulink Model of the Ares I Upper Stage Main Propulsion System [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
A numerical model of the Ares I upper stage main propulsion system is formulated based on first principles. Equation's are written as non-linear ordinary differential equations.

OX4 Is an NADPH-Dependent Dehydrogenase Catalyzing an Extended Michael Addition Reaction To Form the Six-Membered Ring in the Antifungal HSAF

open access: yesBiochemistry, 2019
The polycyclic tetramate macrolactam HSAF is an antifungal natural product isolated from Lysobacter enzymogenes. HSAF and its analogues have a distinct chemical structure and new mode of antifungal action. The mechanism by which the 5/5/6 tricycle of HSAF is formed from the polyene precursor is not totally clear.

Facile Method for Site-specific Gene Integration in Lysobacter enzymogenes for Yield Improvement of the Anti-MRSA Antibiotics WAP-8294A and the Antifungal Antibiotic HSAF [PDF]

open access: yesACS Synthetic Biology, 2013
Lysobacter is a genus of Gram-negative gliding bacteria that are emerged as novel biocontrol agents and new sources of bioactive natural products. The bacteria are naturally resistant to many antibiotics commonly used in transformant selection, which has hampered the genetic manipulations.
