Heat-shock proteins (Hsps) are increasingly being implicated in aging phenotypes and control of life span across species. They are targets of the conserved heat-shock factor and insulin/IGF1-like signaling pathways that affect life span and aging phenotypes.

This paper examines twenty-first-century research on sensory processing sensitivity (SPS) alongside mid-nineteenth-century research on hysteria. Doing so sheds light on how we have long thought of sensorial-emotional experience as progressing along a medical narrative from cause to cure.

Expression of heat shock proteins (HSPs) is of prognostic significance in several tumor types. HSP expression levels were determined in medulloblastomas and tested whether HSPs expression was associated with prognostic parameters. Expression of antiapoptotic HSP 27, HSP 70, and HSP 90 was investigated by immunohistochemistry, on paraffin-embedded ...

As the prevalence of diabetes continues to rise, strategies that aim to prevent and treat the condition continue to gain importance. Obesity is thought to induce a state of low-grade inflammation, which ultimately disrupts insulin signalling and predisposes individuals to type II diabetes.

Humoral response to hsp 65 and hsp 70 in cerebrospinal fluid in Parkinson's disease
Journal of the Neurological Sciences, 1996Parkinson's disease (PD) is an age-related neurodegenerative movement disorder of unknown etiology. In PD immune abnormalities were reported, but the cause of such abnormalities has not been resolved. Recently, the increased proportion of gamma delta + T cells out of all T cells has been found in patients with PD.

Expression of Heat Shock Protein (Hsp) 70 and Hsp 40 in Colorectal Cancer
Medical Oncology, 2003Heat shock protein (Hsp) 70 and Hsp 40 are stress proteins that cooperate as chaperones in mammalian cells. The present study was designed to determine the expression levels of Hsp 70 and Hsp 40 in colorectal cancer by immunohistochemistry and Western blot analysis.

Expression of heat shock protein (Hsp) 70 and Hsp 40 in gastric cancer
Cancer Letters, 2003Heat shock proteins (Hsp) 70 and Hsp 40 are stress proteins that cooperate as chaperones in mammalian cells. We determined the expression of Hsp 70 and Hsp 40 in 81 gastric cancers. Immunoreactivities to Hsp 70 and Hsp 40 were detected in 67.9 and 22.2% of tumors, respectively.

The Developmental Expression of Small HSP
2002This chapter is based on the hypothesis that chaperones and heat shock proteins have specific developmental functions. In other words, at different developmental and differentiation stages, the function of these proteins could be crucially required, as they are the “limiting step” in this process. These functions might be the normal, chaperone function
