HTS Flux Pump for Cryogen-Free HTS Magnets

A reliable method for persistent-current mode operation of HTS magnets is still not available. As an alternative solution to external high-current power supplies we have developed a cryogen-free operating transformer-rectifier type HTS flux pump. Using this device only small ac currents have to be supplied into the cryogenic system.

Many high temperature superconducting (HTS) tape manufactures make an effort to reduce the transport current loss of HTS tapes. The knowledge of critical current and self-field in an HTS tape is very useful to compute the transport current losses. Vision of HTS applications at GE: HTS generator

Abstract The division of superconducting applications into HTS and LTS is artificial. Here we examine why this is so and what categorizations are more cogent. We then discuss a particular potential application, superconducting generators and outline GE's past and present work in the area, including current work on HTS generators under DOE contract.
