IEEE Transactions on Applied Superconductivity, 2006Many high temperature superconducting (HTS) tape manufactures make an effort to reduce the transport current loss of HTS tapes. The knowledge of critical current and self-field in an HTS tape is very useful to compute the transport current losses. Applied Superconductivity, 1994Abstract The division of superconducting applications into HTS and LTS is artificial. Here we examine why this is so and what categorizations are more cogent. We then discuss a particular potential application, superconducting generators and outline GE's past and present work in the area, including current work on HTS generators under DOE contract.
