Optimization of heating profile for superconductor joint performance made by resistive joule heating process

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology
The long-term heating (>60 min) of second generation high temperature superconductor (2G HTS) tape-joints at temperatures above 200 °C leads to the continuous deterioration of their superconducting properties.

Noncontacting ultrasonic and electromagnetic HTS tape NDE [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Appiled Superconductivity, 1997
Two noncontacting nondestructive evaluation techniques, one electromagnetic the other ultrasonic, for inspection of high temperature superconducting tapes are described. Results for Ag-clad BSCCO tapes are given.

Biomimetic Vascular Scaffold with Seamless Electrospun Aligned Nanofiber Conduit and 3D‐Printed Coil Reinforcement

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 15, Issue 30, 14 August 2026.
We introduce a new fabrication method that overcomes the current limitation of tubular gap electrospinning. We successfully fabricated a seamless hollow tube with fibers aligned along the longitudinal axis in diameters as small as 300 µm, and then reinforced it using 4‐axis 3D printing.

The Identification of Microstructural Changes in High-Temperature Superconducting Tapes for Superconducting Fault Current Limiters

open access: yesApplied Sciences
HTS 2G tapes used in Superconducting Fault Current Limiters (SFCLs) have properties that allow for the effective limitation of short-circuit currents; however, due to the specificity of the device operation, they should be characterized by the high ...

Superconducting Surge Current Limiter

open access: yesEnergies, 2021
A superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) for medium voltage networks cooled by a cryocooler was designed, built and tested by the current author. For the construction of this limiter, a high-temperature second generation superconducting tape (HTS ...

The power of many: when genetics met yeasts and high‐throughput

open access: yesBiological Reviews, Volume 101, Issue 4, Page 1662-1682, August 2026.
ABSTRACT In recent years, complex technological capabilities have evolved, driven by the need to solve complex and integrative biological questions through global analyses. New equipment allows the scaling up and automation of processes which previously were carried out on a very limited scale.

3-D Finite Element Model for Drum-Type HTS Dynamos

open access: yesIEEE Access
Continuous cylindrical stator high-temperature superconducting (HTS) dynamos, also known as drum-type HTS dynamos, are devices for contactless current injection, but their complex three-dimensional (3D) electromagnetic behaviour cannot be captured ...

An Engineered Glove for the Objective Assessment of Hand Dexterity in Patients With Systemic Sclerosis

open access: yesACR Open Rheumatology, Volume 8, Issue 7, July 2026.
Objective Hand disability is a major musculoskeletal functional impairment in systemic sclerosis (SSc), but its objective assessment remains challenging. The validated Hand Test System (HTS) engineered glove has provided quantitative dexterity data in rheumatic diseases.

Batteries From Reused, Recycled, and Surplus Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Sustainable Systems, Volume 10, Issue 7, July 2026.
Batteries can become more circular by combining reuse, direct recycling, metallurgical recovery, and material sourcing from industrial surplus streams. This Review highlights how recycled and waste‐derived metals, carbons, polymers, electrolytes, and active materials can be reintegrated into current and emerging batteries, while emphasizing design ...

DNA Integrity of Chironomids and Oligochaetes Is Maintained During Long‐Term Storage in Neutral Buffered Formalin: Implications for Macroinvertebrate Monitoring

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 7, July 2026.
This study demonstrates that neutral buffered formalin effectively preserves both the morphological integrity and DNA quality of oligochaetes and chironomids for up to 6 months. By maintaining a stable pH, this fixation method overcomes the traditional ‘fixative dilemma’, allowing for reliable integrative taxonomy and long‐term DNA‐based monitoring ...
